    Default Disappointing initial weight loss?

I was sleeved last Thursday, and weighed in as part of my pre-operative testing last Tuesday (with shoes on) at 226 pounds. I've just weighed myself today (without shoes!) and am 224 pounds! Really? After pretty much a full four days of nil by mouth, and I've maybe lost a pound?? What are other experiences of initial weight loss?

Remember they pumped your body full of fluids and gas todo the procedure. If you follow the post op diet it will come off. Everyone losses at different rates. Those starting in the 3 and 4 hundreds will loose faster than those starting in the 2s for the most part. Keep the faith and it will happen.

The average weight lost on a regular basic is 2Lbs for week. A Factor our human body change in about 4Lbs during the day another factor we loose inches instead of body weight in the first 3 day of dieting. So you only had 4 days after surgery relax don't weight you self for a whole week and you will see the difference. (I will Have to follow my own advise I weight my self every day)
    Highest Weight Spring 2013: 242LBS
    Weight before Pre-op diet: 232LBS
Weight at the start of Pre-op Diet: 226LBS
Weight Day of Surgery 7/29/2013: 217LBS
    8 days post op 8/5/2013: 205LBS
    1 M Post-Op:186LBS
    2 M Post-Op:174lBS
    3 M Post-Op:160LBS
    4 M Post-Op:160Lbs

That sounds pretty normal. I gained about 11 lbs post op because of all the fluids they pumped into me, and probably the swelling too. I lost all 11 lbs I had gained about 3-4 days after surgery, so I weighed basically the same as I did the day of surgery. Everyone above is right, you just have to be patient and trust the process, and know that it will come off at your body's pace. Best wishes!

It is hard not to look at other people's weight loss but just focus on you. Your body is unique. The weigh will come give it 2 weeks and I bet you will see a loss. Be patient and take care of yourself and do everything they tell you..
From a British girl living in USA :-)))) good luck with your journey and keep in touch if you like

Well, everyone loses at a different rate, you don't wake up to a 10lb. weight loss. You have IV solution pumped into your body - they fill your abdomen with gas - they use more saline to irrigate the operative area. So after all that, I think it would be unusual to see a weight loss.

Thanks everybody for the reassurance - needless to say you were all right :-) I have purposely stayed away from the scales (at home) since my initial shock, but have been for a post-operative check-up today and am pleased to say that I weighed in at 215. That seems much more like it! I appreciate all of you helping me to keep the faith!
