Biotin Questions help me out please

I have been shedding hair like crazy 8 days post op. I know alot right now is from the anesthetic, and I need to be getting in 60g-70g of protein. I want to buy some biotin to help as well. Although how much of this do you take? I've seen 300mcg all the way up to 10,000mcg tablets. Just curious what most people are taking.

I take between 7'400 and 8,000mg of biotin daily (depends which one I take.) I started taking it almost 3 years ago when I had a severe illness and lost 3/4's of my hair.

I took 3,000 mcg at the worst of my hair loss. Biotin doesn't help with the hair loss, though, it helps make your new growth healthier.

I took and continue to take 10,000mcg of Biotin. Brigitte is right that it doesn't stop the hair loss, but it does help it come back quick. I continue to take it know because I love how strong my hair and nails are now.

Yes, the most important thing is to make sure your fluids and protein intake is good.

I know this thread is old but I started taking 10,000mcg of biotin and I am still pre-sleeve. I have been wondering if my hair was "breaking" off...and suspiciously all the gray? Now I know it is new gray, growing in.....WONDERFUL. Where's the salon! Lol

Another important level to watch is ur iron . My hair loss is do to an iron deficiency . So I'm now on an iron supplement and hoping and praying it helps!

Thank goodness I have short sassy hair as my kids call it. I had some loss but not bad, did and still do take the B pill every day

I am 4 and a half months out and loosing my hair like crazy. Taking 1000 mcg a day and a vitamin B complex. Not noticing any results yet, but jus had blood work don yesterday so will wait for the results and see. One question about upping the biotin, I have an issue with facial hair, I assume the biotin will "help" encourage more of that too?

@christine I want to get a cute pixie cut once my face is thinner. I used to have a cute short pixie and got tons of compliments.

@dair67 I have noticed more fur on my face. It's irritating.

I totally agree with you, I have always been a "tell it like it is woman", and I had negative things happen to me after surgery and I posted it. I don't care who reads it, it was my truth.. All I can hope is that others rest after surgery and not go to the grocery store or walk their 45 lb dog. I also had hernia repair.............If I were you, I would do what you want to and say what you want to, but I have also noticed what you are talking about. My nutritionist said to take 5000 mg a day. My daughter did this and her new growth came back stronger but she says ALL of your hair grows. ie, facial, legs under arm etc. Also your nails grow stronger.

I was taking Hairfinity vitamin before and still continue my hair is healthy and the dose contains 5000 of biotin plus other vitamins.

I am taking a liquid B-12 with B-complex which helps there and as far as my biotin, I take a chewable one you could find in Walgreens or Walmart. They are easier to take after surgery. All your vitamins should be chewables to make it easier to digest.

I bought two bottles of bioton, thinking it would help with nails & hair. Two 500 mg pills brought out the EpiPen; hives galore! Gave the bottles away in a heart beat!
