At my lowest I weighed 172 so I was down 53 lbs. I slipped into some of my bad habits and gained some weight back when life got in the way. I don't think I'm typical but this is where I'm at. I'm back to working hard at it to lose the last 29 lbs to get to my goal!

Is that you CAN eat more? Has your stomach gotten bigger, stretched out?
Or are you still really restricted, but are just eating the wrong food?
I don't mean to be nosey, but I plan on getting the sleeve, and these are some
of the questions I need to ask.
    Thanks again for your honsety

Wow Joelle! You're only about 10 months out and already down 140 lbs and probably still losing. That's awesome!! Keep up the good work. I hope I can lose like you. What are some tips? How are you dealing with excess skin?

Almost 1 and a half years post op, I can still only eat 2.5 ounces of dense protein. Obviously that's the best choice. I can eat half a cup of cottage cheese. However, I can eat quite a bit of crackers! Have to ration myself. I will grab one serving size or half a serving size and PUT THE BOX BACK. If I bring the whole box, I will eat more than a serving size. Also, at a restaurant is about the only time I eat chips because they also are easy to eat. I can eat quite a bit of the chips and queso! They just SLIDE down lol. It's all about choices after about 6-8 months post op. Those first few months, I HAD to lose weight because I literally could not eat more than 600 calories. One trick that always works is to eat a "snacky" type item WITH some protein. You won't be ABLE to fill up on junk if you eat some protein with it! It's virtually impossible. Beef jerky is always a good go-to item or a string cheese or an ounce or two of chicken and I'll add some wheat thins or something with it and I can't eat more than a half serving or serving size if I eat the protein item with it. If I ONLY eat wheat thins, with no protein item with it, I could probably eat half a box! You HAVE to make smarter choices if you don't want to gain weight.

    Starting BMI 2/3/2012 - 38
Goal BMI-24! REACHED and BELOW!! 10/2012 Current BMI 21.0!
The best goals reached are the ones hardest earned.

I'm quoting Misty as she said it VERY well and it cannot be repeated enough.

I can easily eat a bag of popcorn but I get a small bowl out and put the popcorn it the bowl to control the portion amount.

Slider foods are the debil! Bah!

I'm about 2 years out now. I can definitely eat more than the few months after the surgery, but nothing like before the surgery.

I am almost 2 years out, and I still have quite a lot of restriction. I still mentally track calories and try not to go over 1200, while getting my proteins in first. My loss has slowed drastically, and I still have about 30-40 I'd like to lose, but I just keep plugging. I am still thrilled with my decision and would do it again in a heartbeat!

I can eat more than I did right after surgery. Also, my restriction is tighter in the morning. It is still about choices. I gained weight from making bad food choices (popcorn, chips & salsa, anything crunchy and salty) and not moving. Did I stretch my stomach? Don't know - but I still can't (and don't) eat anywhere near what I ate before surgery.
