    Cool Post Op

Well it is day 4 of my op and I am heading off home. Very nervous about the fact i will be at home on my own, but I really don't have the engergy to do anything else. What sort of free fluids do people have once they are home? I am so worried about drinking anything I am not able to drink

Well after nearly three of the gastric sleeve and then starting to gain weight even after going to the gym five days a week.
In January of this year I opted to have the by pass and find the after effects very different to the sleeve.
But happy to say in the space of 6 weeks I have lost nearly 9kg.
So my target weight of 70kg is looking a lot better.

My surgeon preferred me only on the clear protein liquids and I like Isopure.... But crystal light with unflavored protein powder works too! I am 6 days out and struggling to get enough fluids down!

    Water, water, water.
    Chicken broth
    Beef Broth

Try some of the clear protein shots. We had the new Sunkist Orange, Grape and Fruit Punch protein shots recommended.

You can also try sugar free jello.

    Sip your liquids.

Since hunger is actually one of the body's signals for thirst it can get confusing and difficult to remember to drink if we aren't hungry. Set timers or do what you need to do to try to get in about 2 oz. every 15 to 20 minutes or so. The more hydrated you are the better you will feel and heal.

sugar free popsicles were a life saver for me!! You have to eat them slow. Small sips of water pretty much constantly. You'll make it!

    Thumbs up Re: Post Op

I find I am not drinking enough, the idea of the ice popsicles is great. I will have to hide them from the kids. I have a draw in the fridge with just my things in and they know not to eat or drink any of these. I don't miss food, but I miss chewing on something if that makes sense!
I am day six post op and feeling really, really good but now worrying I will hit a wall at some point and go down hill. I think this must be the negative side of me coming out.
Thank you to all for your help and advice.

I would be lost without the popsicles but find that the inexpensive store brand is better tasting in sugar free. If you can afford it just buy lots of store brand ones and allow the kids to have them too. I found the cold felt great in my tummy as well.

Thank you so much for the advice on the popsicles. The kids think it is fantastic that they have over 100 ice blocks in the house now.

I had to sip fat fre milk and water, nothing else would stay down, I used to hate skim milk but now its wonderful. Tiny sips, thousands of tiny sips! I think I could have manged alone, it wasn't too bad, I wanted to be left alone anyway. Good luck!
