    Arrow Aftercare?

I am scheduled with Dr. Ramos-Kelly next month. Can anyone tell me about aftercare with him? I am really having to work at getting my wife "on board". She was very supportive till my passport and credit card showed up to pay for the surgery with no interest until 8/2014. Now, she is having second thoughts as the reality sets in. Can anyone enlighten me about the aftercare, safety, and success with Dr. Kelly?
Thank you for any help you can give me.

My husband had his surgery 3 years after mine...his was with Dr. Kelly. Check my blog for both our stories...maybe she'll see that there is life (and a better one at that!) after WLS.

Thank you. The blog is very informative. Your husband and I are nearly the exact same size. I am wanting to be around for a lot of years to chase my 3 year old around and watch her grow up.

I did not have my surgery with Dr.Kelly, but I too, am desperately trying to convince my husband to have the surgery as well. Life is sooo much better! Down to 158 lbs and feel amazing!! But my husband feels I "cheated." He's trying to lose weight the right way. He lost 30 lbs before Christmas, but has now gained all of it back. He's still convinced he can lose the weight "the right way." Ugh! So frustrating!

Be patient. He has to make the decision for himself just like you and I did. My husband was very anti-surgery! VERY! Didn't even like to talk about it. I was careful not to push him and then one day he got a bad report from his diabetic doctor....I said well, you know what the answer is don't you. And he said...yeah,paused for a minute then said "schedule it". FLOORED ME!!!!! I said are you kidding? Nope, schedule it. That was 52 lbs ago and he'll be the first to tell you he's so glad he did it!

I had surgery with Dr. Lopez last week. I understand the spouse being nervous. Is she also overweight? It is natural for spouses to feel fear of the unknown. My husband came with me and I am so thankful he did. You are doing the right thing for your health. Your wife can talk with the doctors, nurses, care coordinators etc. I think it would be god for her. I have no complications and everyone that was there with us (about 12 others) also had no complications. It is a change of life and sometimes that is what is needed. It is NOT the EASY way out for sure..... You must change everything you do. Good luck can;t wait to see your results.

I think my spouse still thinks that this is pretty drastic. I'm going to Mexico to have 85% of my stomach removed. My husband has never had a weight problem. He also does all the "right" things - to the extreme. He is the type of person who can't sit down. He bikes, he runs, he walks/runs all 3 dogs, he mows the lawn, etc., etc., etc. Needless to say - i'm not that active. Anyhow, my PCP is going to do any follow up that may be needed. I also have a psychologist to help me figure out how to cope without being able to emotionally eat or smoke.
