Question Woah! Did too much today and feel wiped out....

Today is Day 7. I have a 2-3 weeks off work, and haven't really had to do anything other than rest and recuperate. I have been blessed that I have had the time to really ease back into life. I was feeling pretty chipper with little to no pain or discomfort, am on track with liquids and protein. My husband treated me to maid service for this month so I don't have to do heavy housework. I was picking up getting ready for the cleaning service, literally 15 minutes of light light housework (mainly cleaning off the kitchen counter because it looks like some druggie lives here! Three big bottles of liquid Rx pain reliever-my tummy didn't like the first two, my regular Rx pills, boxes stool softener, gas reliever, etc!) I picked up a little in the living room, bent over to pick up a few dog toys. Really nothing strenuous or active!!

I started to sweat like I ran a marathon, felt nauseous and even a little light headed. I sat for a few minutes but the feeling got worse! I took a shower to cool off, probably not the brightest idea, I had to hold on to the rail as I was sooo dizzy! I am finally feeling a little better, got out of the shower, dried off, put on clean pj's and am now sitting on the bed. My muscles in my abdomen are achey and can feel my incisions again. Holy Cow!! What a lesson I learned today.

I do know that we are all different and one size does not fit all but roughly when we you able to do more than just sit around? I am not the kind of person that is super hard on myself but today's lesson really surprised me!

Now is when you can't think you are super human... I know how hard it is, but you learn fast about do's and don'ts. Relax and enjoy it while you can...

HI! So sorry you had that experience! I am 6 weeks post op and it's only been in the last 2 weeks I feel "normal" and at a good energy level.
I napped alot in the first month, and normal things I do (like ride the subway, walk alot) totally wiped me out at first.
Please be careful and kind to yourself! It will get easier-give it time!

I am 8 days out and I did the same thing. I felt like I had over done it to the point I ended up having to take a nap. Glad you are feeling better. Take it easy.

I know its so hard to rest up!!! I went back to hospital 4 weeks out for a stomach inflammation, which was all fixed by steroids in 4 days, I was feeling back to normal, left hospital and went to the shops, then boom passed out in the middle of the shopping centre! Not until then I had a stern talk to myself about 'resting up'!
It gets better and easier each day

I've pretended that today is Day 1 and reallytook it easy. I have napped, watched tv, sipped my liquids, napped, prepared my easy protein "meals"-going from recliner to bed, not taxing myself at all. I feel blah and bored BUT I'm telling myself I am healing and taking care of myself.

    Thanks for your replies!
