    Red face Intro

    Hi all.

So....I have been lurking and reading for weeks but decided to make this official.

I have surgery planned for August 22. I am excited and scared and freaked.

Sadly I have to self pay ... So I was able to pick my dates. I carved out that date from my work schedule but now wish I did not have so much time to wait.

    My fears
Pain of recovery. The nausea And gas sound bad
My dr requires 2 weeks of nothing but slim fast before. This is going to be brutal
Hair loss - I'm already thin on top even though its thick everywhere else.
My shoe collection. Oh how I adore my shoes..... Is it true they will be too big after significant weight gain?
I worry about my work travel and business lunch and dinners while on liquids, mushies, and intro soft stuff.
I am a huge water drinker with meals.
This is such a huge undertaking and I wish I was strong enough to do this without this step.

My husband (of 3 months) is being so supportive. I'm scared to tell my dad and have no clue how to handle it with coworkers.

So that's me mostly. Excited and freaked!

    K

I was also a self-pay and picked my own date. I didnt wait long and was sleeved on May 10th. I returned offshore on the 22nd of the same month. I have not had trouble with the diet and just brought my Ninja offshore with me for the puree stage. As for the pain, I had very minimal pain but I was walking 4 miles a day for a month before my procedure and I think it helped me with recovery. The gas after the procedure was uncomfortable but not unbearable and walking after the procedure did help with metabolizing the gas.

Welcome!! I, too, am going to be a self pay and wished I could have done the surgery sooner than later, but I had scheduled a vacation in July and my surgeon didn't want me to travel for 6 weeks after surgery, so now my date is 7/29, after my vacation. I could've written all your fears, except for the shoes one, because I'm still holding onto shoes that are too small from me gaining weight in the first place. haha!! I have a lot of hair but it's very fine, so it looks like I don't have much of it. I'm scared to death of losing my hair too. Ugh. Hopefully both of us will have a good recovery!! Good luck to you!!

Jill, I hope you have a great vacation. Enjoy it, at least the surgery isn't around all of the holidays. I am feeling great. 2 Days to go for me. I am excited, but not nervous. Took my first prep today. will be staying around the house!!!! We are going up to Eugene tomorrow to stay at the hotel. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30am on Monday. I am a little concerned about the hair thing, but I have hats and it will grow back. I didn't know about the shoe size getting smaller. It never changed when I got larger? Any way, take care and have a good weekend. Lee
