Question Self pay - sleeve - financing - mexico - need advice please :)

Hey All! I am new to the forums and excited to see all the success stories. Congratulations!! They get me PUMPED UP!!!
My song & dance is pretty similar to many of you, struggled with weight my whole life, at 27 years the pounds started piling on & with my best efforts I could lose but it would come back with a vengence. I have terrible cravings and tend to skip meals then binge when I finally have food. I have asthma, GERD, stress incontinence, cystocele/rectocele and peripheral pitting edema. I am a 2nd year medical student and realize that if I am going to preach health, I need to have health and I believe this is the first step.
I am 5' 5.5" and 243 lbs. My insurance doesn't cover WLS and am now looking into options in Mexico. I'm wondering if any of you out there went to Mexico and FINANCED your Sleeve. If so, did you pay via credit card, e-financing, or...??? If you used the e-financing did it work out? I just spoke to Alma at Ready4aChange and she is starting the process of setting me up with Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana for all inclusive price of $4700. Any info would be appreciated. Looking for honesty - the good, bad, and indifferent, so please don't hold back
With every day, I get closer to a new me.

I had a good experience there with Dr. Ariel Ortiz. So far, I haven't come across many who had poor experiences. I didn't finance but you might want to look into a personal loan here. Could be a better rate. Doesn't hurt to look around a bit. It seems a lot of the docs there will take credit cards but will push the credit card fees onto the patient, which I don't blame them.

    Best of luck to you!

Worse comes to worse...I find an easy way to save without even knowing it is have extra TAXES taken out of your pay---I know---I know---Just hear me out---we waste tons of money because we as Americans have forgotten how to save--money in hand means money you can spend...this 'automatic' deduction in your payroll, MAKES you save because the money NEVER REACHES YOUR HANDS...since you will essentially be OVERPAYING on your taxes (assuming you have the correct withholding taken out already) the amount you OVERPAY is refunded to you come next tax season. Granted it's not a quick fix...but it's a guaranteed way to save a few bucks. Now there are the screamers 'why give the government a free loan'--What?? Seriously?? who cares---the money at least is there for you when you file your return next year---it's not going anywhere... I have done this MANY times-including $2,500 for this operation and $1,200 for a motorcycle....I'm a terrible saver, so this has definitely worked for me. Just go to the IRS website and download form W-4---Under exemptions it would be best to use -0- but if it's too burdensome use -1- then where it says 'additional withholding' put in the amount you want...like I said it's a way to save---in case the financing doesn't work out or is expensive.

Hello ChubbyMedStudent I would do your research on the finance company that is listed on ready4achange website. If you do a yahoo/Google search on the parent company No Patient Left Behind.

MEDICALFINANCING.COM NO PATIENT LEFT BEHIND - Reviews & Brand Information - myMedicalLoan.com, Inc. Sherman Oaks, CA - Serial Number: 85115871

After reading a few different reviews about this company, I would stay away from them.

I used Dr.Almanza, loved him. (weightloss agents) i dont think they finance. But i used my income taxes to do pay for my surgery. I had to pay a$500 deposit and pay the rest three days before surgery. Made payments on the deposit then scheduled my surgery when i knew i would get my taxes back. I did rapid refund. Luckily i had enough for plane ticket to. Got cheap plane tickets online.

I had mine done in Mexico. I am 11 days post op. Great experience. I looked into financing through the company on Dr. Almanza's website - DON'T go that route. The price was almost double + their ridiculous interest rates. I ended up borrowing from my parents but I have heard others with great ideas like borrow from your 401K, use tax refund, personal loan, maybe even open a new credit card with 0% interest for 14 or 18 months.

I had to self pay and did finance my procedure using United Medical Credit. They had me approve and the Dr. paid in about a week. I did opt to have it done locally and not in Mexico. My Dr. had the money a month before I had the procedure due to having to postpone for work reasons. My payment is 400 a month for 4 years. The total cost of the procedure was 14,900 and I financed the whole thing. No penalty for early pay off either.
