    Default 3 days post op

    Hey Everyone,

I am now 3 days post op, and am feeling ok. I have a had time swallowing and getting enough fluids down because of that but on the good side I have lost 10 lbs!!!! I don't know about everyone else but I can't seem to keep up my energy levels. I seem to be tired all the time. My pain is very minimal and I am very glad about that. What bothers me the most is I am wanting real food. My family ate steak tonight and I went and hid in the shower. I can't wait til I can have something other than liquids

Well I have not had my surgery yet--but I HAVE come to terms that I will NEVER be able to eat what my family eats...I will be (as you now are) a new being. I am a very imaginative person---I plan to put together a time capsule and bury it in my back yard---to be opened one year after my surgery (rituals and stuff make this an adventure!) -- and in my mind -- I have started an adventure to a new planet---a land where everyone is a different species than me, they eat things that I can't and I brought my own food on my magical spaceship that they cannot eat either but I will survive here--I can never go back to my planet, I was going to die if I kept living there. I will probably also be tired (it's been a long journey!) and I'm sure that the adjustment will take a little time but I can't wait to make this new world my new home! I will explore this new world filled with nice clothes and fun activities I could never do on my planet (the strong "gravity" there kept me from running, swimming, playing tennis in cute skirts with a hot instructor). I have found that I can dance at their music clubs and not sit around being content with 'people watching' and take belly dancing lessons or martial arts. There is a whole new world wonderful and alien out there waiting for me to come discover all it has to offer---but my spaceship doesn't leave until July--YOU THERE traveller!...you have arrived there, start discovering it. I'll meet you there soon!

I can totally understand not wanting to be around foods like that when you're stuck with liquids, but just think what an amazing step you are taking towards becoming a better you! Keep up the good work!

I'm four days post-op and I hate food commercials. We'll get through this phase though and laugh about it later. (((hugs)))

I have tried to change my view that people who can eat a lot all the time are "lucky". Yes, some are, but many are out of control with their eating/exercise and not lucky. I don't think there is anything much we can't ever have again.. at least a bite.. if we really want to. I went through this 20 years ago with smoking and got through with the self talk that I could never have another puff, and I basically haven't. One I think one time.. but it's an addiction and I can't let myself go back to eating in an addictive way where I let visual triggers and what other people are doing overwhelm my self control. You did well to take care of yourself and leave the room if you couldn't handle it. I think each time you exercise self control in the face of temptation it will become easier to do it the next time. Good luck to you.
