Wanting to eat salad...BAD

Hi ya'll Im almost a month out of surgery, and was wondering if anyone has tried fresh vegies. I miss salad, tomatos, radish, ect. What experiences have Yall had eating fresh vegies and fruits?

Am 1 year and 2 months out and I have trouble with raw veggies and fruits. But not everyone is the same. Everything has to be well cooked for me. Good Luck

I have no trouble with salad. I was eating very small amounts of salad after a month.

I would wait if I were you. I waited until 31/2 months I think and didn't have any problems.

I'm week. I had salad a week ago and the next day I was cramped up. I'm waiting a couple weeks, then ill try again. I miss salad.

Just follow what ever your dr says is ok. I had no problems with introducing new foods when it was time.

Right now I can only do spinach, tomatoes and olives.

I was eating raw veggies again at about 6 wks. Before that they still bothered me.

I craved a salad after my surgery and I can honestly say I don't think I have ever craved a salad before!!! I had my first salad at 9 weeks or so.... I would suggest trying a different type of lettuce other than iceberg (I did baby greens).

Kaiser, the medical group I have, told me they don't recommended trying salad until you're 8 months out. They say everyone is different, but some people can't deal with salad until over a year out and some people never can. At almost 11 months, I can have a little raw veggies as long as it is part of a meal with other things, but I cannot handle a salad. Hurts quite a bit when I do try.

If you want to try for true pain, try a BLT. It tastes so good, but with the carbs, grease and lettuce. Oh my!
