Default Any way to start combating hair loss from the very beginning?

I know I'll need to discuss this with my surgeon when I get there, but has anyone started taking Biotin (or something else) right away after sleeve surgery to try to prevent hair loss?

I have very fine, thin hair to begin with and I really can't afford to part with any of it. (Pun so not intended, though you'll notice I didn't go back and change the wording, either.)

I really hope I can find a way to avoid losing too much hair.... I'm not sure my bf would care to trade a fat girlfriend for a bald one!

I'm not sure if it will work but I started taking biotin about a week ago. My surgery is a week away. I'll let you know how it goes.

After being on this forum and several FB pages dealing with WLS, I have found there is no guarantee that any particular supplement will work for everyone. I have always had thin hair, too. My hair did not fall out, but just stopped growing, consequently, dead hair and looks horrible. You may have seen my recent post...I finally bought a few wigs and I should have done it a year ago! I feel like I have wasted my money on all the BIOTIN, SILICA, FISH OIL and FOLIC ACID. I also bought some special shampoos that claimed to make air grow or thicker...did nothing. BUT, that said, I also had 3 additional surgeries since the sleeve, so anesthesia and pain meds, I'm sure, played a roll. But, like I said..i've read so many posts of others who had no luck with supplements and then some people who never lost hair..so, I guess it is a crap shoot. I lOVE my wigs though! Several women have asked me where i get my hair cut!!!! I had to come clean and tell them, "Its a wig!" I mean, I couldnt give them a name of a Salon!"
    GOOD LUCK!!!
