just wondering if anyone has tried it after thier surgery cause i want to but i want to know how it went for someone ellse my dr didnt say anything about alcohol please let me know??? thanks
Misty....I was thinking the same thing. Will be watching to see replies.....
Hiya. I am 6 weeks out and my weight loss provider in the uk said I could try it at 5 weeks. I had a low alcohol wine and it was lovely. Last weekend had a normal glass of wine and wow did I feel tipsy. Not sure what the recommendations are for you in the states but I was told obviously go slowly and be aware that the effects are so much greater than before. Empty calories for me, so occasionally at the weekend I will have a treat. Hope this gives you some insight. Take care xxxx
I am 10 weeks and this past sunday I had a drink. It was actually a mixed shot so it was small amount that I had the bartender put on ice in a regular glass so I can sip it. I have to say it does hit you (normally it would take almost a dozen of these drinks to get tipsy) but I felt tipsy but that feeling went away pretty fast. I didn't want to do too much b/c I wasn't sure if I should and b/c like stated above it is empty calories and carbs etc. I plan to find some low cal/low carb option so when I want to have something I can without feeling so guilty but at the same time I don't see myself drinking as regularly as I used to. Don't forget overeating is an addiction and now that I don't overeat I don't want to start another addiction. Plus I see my friends that have been drinking more lately and I am watching as they are putting on the pounds and I just dno't want to do that. I have gone now almost 3 months of no alcohol and I still go to the bar with my friends and I just have my water or my own bottle of crystal lite with me. If I can do it for those 3 months I can continue.
Good luck,
Christina
My Dr said I was fine to have a glass of wine at 8 weeks. Since then, I have had no trouble with any drink, fizzy or not. In fact, I just had a really nice Pinot Noir... yummy! Just don't drink/eat anything too fast.

I had a glass of Cab Sauv on the weekend. It took me nearly 2 hours for a single glass as it burned a fair bit going down so I only sipped.

Thanks so much. I have done some research on carb friendly...and Tequila is my drink of choice....just have to watch whatever you mix it with. But there is a new sugar free drink mix available at Wal-mart that is Margarita flavored..and I love it. So my sister starts her vacation on Saturday and we are going to have one or two...WooHoo!
awesome responses.just don't overdo it & end up in Dennys at 3 a.m. face down in a plate of waffles. Not that it ever happened to me... :-(
they were damn good waffles tho!
you can drink, but very very little. it hits hard and very fast. wine and cocktails are full of carbs anyways. beer and carbonated drinks are not allowed because of the carbonation.
hard liquuor has no carbohydrates so if you want to drink, have hard liquor on the rocks with a splash of water and sip, sip, sip slowly.
The biggest minus (besides transfer addictions) to drinking alcohol is that your body will burn that fuel off before it goes back to burning your fat off. So the longer/more often you have alcohol -no matter WHICH kind- the slower your weight loss will be and the more stalls you will experience. Just keep this in mind if you are imbibing!
