Exclamation Still no regrets but, I'm struggling just a little.

I have no regrets about doing my surgery because I'm on my way to a healthier me! However I'm finding that I'm getting a little frustrated because I'm getting sick of this full liquid diet! Everyone around me is eating all this great stuff and i feel so left out! Is there any advice someone could give me on what I could to to cope with this or some different creative full liquid foods that they have tried. I did go to panera bread and I had their black bean soup which was great but I'm getting sick of that also. Please give me any ideas on how you might have dealt with this stage of post op.

The full liquid phase was aweful for me too. I would stick to what you are eating plus things like lentil soup with a lemon twist. Homemade chicken soup is also great. Just do not forget your protein shake and vietamins. Best of luck.

I was on liquid for 3 weeks, it was very hard. I had a few soups from Trader Joes that got me through, one was Tomato and Roasted Red Pepper. Mmmmmm. I could only have like 2 ounces at a time. Good luck.

When I was on liquids I had to keep telling myself "I will eat again this isnt forever just a few more days" it was a struggle especially when my husband would snack while watching tv and I was right there next to him. It does get better but i think the mental struggle is the worst part and the more you can try to make your mind realize its not so bad then it will not be so bad. Positive thinking can do wonders. Best of luck and I know you will get past this soon.

I'd rather do the post-op liquid diet than a pre-op any day. Soup is my salvation. Comes in any flavour you like and is hot and nourishing.
Jelly and lump free yoghurt mashed together makes a nice dessert. Shakes, I'm using unflavoured protein and adding fruit and almond milk or skim milk, again flavours and recipes come in heaps of varieties.
We were sleeved the same day. I have one more week of fluids and I'm finding it ok. Sorry to hear you're suffering a little.

I had my surgery on May 1st, and had to do 2 weeks of liquids. I missed chewing so much. My go-to was tomato soup, but I found myself making my own soups and straining or pureeing, which my dr said was fine. It will be over soon, just know that and it will help u get by. The one thing I truly missed was chewing, but as of Monday, I got the green light for soft foods. Good luck

" I'm not telling you it's going to be easy. I'm telling you it's going to be worth it. " I have to remind myself of that nearly everyday. Sometimes when I'm on the treadmill I say it over and over to myself. I had my surgery on 03/13/13 and am finally able to eat "real " food. It does get better. Best of luck to you as well of the rest of us on our journey.

Before you know it you will be on mushy soft food. I got bored with liquids too. I don't care if I ever eat soup again.lol. Stick with it. Remember your tummy just went though major surgery. Good luck

Chinese Egg Drop Soup was one of my go-to liquids. So warm and good. I also added it to minced chicken & turkey when I got to the stage where I was able to have them. Best wishes for a continued recovery and journey!

i didn't miss chewing etc, i found the post op liquid thing fine, but i did just mulch up all types of soups with a stick blender, anything that had lumps i liquidized, i got very creative, even had a roast one night, just added some gravy with water and used the stick blender, it was completely liquid but tasted fantastic. simply put your meat and vege in a saucepan, add water and a stock cube, then bascially boil it down then blitz it, but use roasted meat, otherwise you don't get the roasted flavour, and bake the vege first too. it worked very well indeed, did the same with spaghetti, just made spag bol, then added the sauce and some water and blitzed it to liquid still tasted like spaghetti, just looked like...well nm..lol...gl
