    Default "Breaking the rules"

I am kind of overwhelmed at all the information I've received about what I shouldn't eat, what portions I need to fit, and I'm kind of freaking out and panicking "Oh God!! What if I mess up?"

So, what happens if I *do* break the rules? Obviously something detrimental to myself. But what? Slower weight gain? Vomiting excessively? Pouch blow-out? (Like I said, kiiinda wigging out.)

    Some examples of the rules:
    1. Only have 1-2 snacks a day.
    2. Carbs should not exceed 200g, and then once the 2-week pre-op starts, should be no more than 100g.
    3. Don't drink anything 30 minutes before and after meals.
    4. etc...

I know there's no way I will be perfect all the time - but I want to know what the consequences are of mistakes. Not just an amorphous dark cloud of "bad things."

    We understand being overwhelmed.
1st thing you should do is look over and learn the information that YOUR surgeon's office gave you.
You'll find that every doctors is different and will have different dietary requirements.

You'll read some posts on what happened when THEY broke the rules and/or pushed things. Will this happen to you? Maybe...maybe not.
But I'm taking their warnings very seriously.
My mind set is this......I'm paying a LOT of money and going thru a LOT of pain and discomfort and I'll be darned if it will be for naught.

    Good luck in your journey!

The sample rules are from my doctor. I have talked with my nutritionist heavily, and asked a lot of questions, but I feel like I'm never going to grasp it all!

Follow the rules, and you will know when you can bend them. You will soon see what you can get away with or not. I can tell you that the first weeks after surgery you will be too afraid to break any rules and if you do, you will PAY. you will feel the wrath. I tried everything slow. Once you start seeing your weight loss too, you are going to want to do everythign right. i am almost two months out and slip sometimes; particularlly with my vitamins and those things, but for the most part I am very careful. you don't want all this to be in vein.

You will do just fine. You will be like the rest of us and sick of liquids, but you will survive.

Thanks! I believe it... I'm trying to find all sorts of liquids. Unfortunately I am not a person who is good with the same thing all the time, but I will have to find a middle ground between wanting a ton of variety and taking a lot of the same things.
