Default Oranges, Pears, Cherries...what fruits are ok to eat Post-Op?

I love oranges, pears and cherries, all soft foods in my mind and full of (yes sugar but) healthy yumminess. Are we able to eat these after the surgery? What about Mango? I cannot imagine never eating these fruits again... Can anyone share a list of the YES foods, or direct me to a post that already has it?

I eat all those fruits and more! It took a few months to eat them whole, but I had them in my VITA-MIX making Smoothies at Week 3 or 4, if I remember correctly. All foods are YES foods eventually. You just have to experiment and take it slow. Of course, I will come to the Cayman Islands and be your personal sleeve nurse in exchange for room and board!!!! :-)

I was told all fruit is okay as long as you peel it first as the peels can be difficult to digest and cause issues. I was also told not to eat fruit by itself. 3 bites of protein to every bite of fruit.

Well, you do seem to have a whole lotta knowledge so maybe when I hit the FL Lotto or Powerball I can afford your services ;-)

Thanks for responding. I think I still have the diet mentality of deprivation as a key to success--sometimes!

i say if it grows from a plant or a tree...eat it! and eat those peelings as soon as you can, you need ever bit of fiber you can get. even potatoes are ok in moderation. watermelon, pineapple, apples, oranges, pears, strawberries, blackberries, grapes (loooove grapes)...the list goes on and on. mash up fresh tomatoes with meats, chop up and carmelize onions to garnish foods. flavor is the most important part after sleeve...if we are not SATISFIED with meals, we will start craving bad for us things.

i had a hard time with citrus post op for a few months (felt like it was burning my stomach), and i stayed away from any fruits with small seeds (like strawberries or kiwi)...i think everyone will react differently to each food post op. But now a year plus later, there's nothing i can't eat! (which is kinda scary! haha)

I am almost 7 weeks post op and I have had vegetable stew with green beans, corn, onion, and potatoes in it as well as lots of watermelon. I had several days early out where I only wanted watermelon and my NUT said it is a great choice because it also helped me get some fluids in. I was drooling over some fresh cherries at the store today but wasn't brave enough to try them yet. Oh, and s few times I have taken 1/4 a banana and added 2 TBSP of peanut better, mashed it all up and eaten it for snack...yum!
