That is so true. I really worry about figuring out how to cheat the sleeve and once again end up not losing or re-gaining weight. I am going to a therapist and plan to continue after I have my sleeve as well. Hopefully it will help me stay on track and make life-long life-style changes too.

I had my band placed in December 2007. My high weight was 293. My lowest weight with the band was 155. Yes, I had tons of horrible side effects. But I still loved the band. Then, in February 2013 I had to get an unfill because I would wake up in the middle of the night choking on vomit. Scary.
So went for a complete infill, and since February my weight hung out around 175-185 .
My band was removed on October 1, and my doc revised me to a sleeve at the same time.
It obviously hasn't been that long but I can already lay down without choking. And my port site isn't a constant state of soreness.
I really hope this works for me. But I am so relieved that I won't be puking daily.

On 6/14 I'm having my band removed and replaced with a sleeve, all one surgery. Did you have any problems? I know a lot of people do this in two separate surgeries. How long did you stay in the hospital afterwards?

Adjusting the sweet spot on your fill can be a pain in the butt. The cost for fills can get expensive over time.

I had my band in 2009 and I loved it as well. I actually did VERY well with it and the only reason it was removed in 2012 was because of a horrible stomach bug....I was supposed to get it back after 6 months, but I havent' had insurance since then....I get insurance next month and Im 99% sure I want my band back....but considering the sleeve....

Nice to see someone else with pretty much the same situation....not in having to go thru this, but that the band WORKED for you and it was not a choice to have it removed but a necessity because of something OUT of your control!

I had a lap band 1/2012 i took it out 4/2014. I lost roughly 70lbs which i was extremely excited. I took it out because I was constantly getting reflux. I've decided to get the sleeve no complaint thus far.
