Hello, I am new here. Currently doing my supervised dietician visits. I work and was curious how long off from work people are taking when they have their surgery. How quickly can you return??

Hi,
Everyone varies. I am 51 and have an office position. I was scheduled for 4 weeks off and took 6 due to a stomach bug I had 9 days out. I know some folks who went back in 2-3 weeks I think that is more the norm. I took whatever my employer was giving, 6 weeks full pay worked for me. Best of luck! Best thing I've ever done for myself. 12 weeks =43 lbs...

I was like scoobie61, my STD covered me for 6 weeks with full pay so am taking the entire 6 weeks. Also, the first two weeks I was exhausted although I didn't do anything, not even go outside. By the third week, and I started on soft foods, I started to feel a little better. I could now walk about 15-20 minuets with out needing a nap. Everyone is different, so you will have to judge by the way you feel. Good luck!

I was lucky to have done mine over xmas when I had a little over 2 weeks off. I was glad to have had the extra time to recuperate etc...but I probably could have gone back after a week if I had to. You may want to have a few sick days ready just in case. Good luck.

I had my surgery on May 1st, I took off 2wks but I feel that I could go back on Monday

I had my surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work on Monday, no problems.

Thank you. WOW only 16 days since your surgery and your already down 45lbs. That's awesome!!

Surgeon suggested I will need 2 weeks off. So far he has been right about everything else, so I'm going with his suggestion.
