    Default Plateau??

    Hello,
I was sleeved 3 weeks ago today (4/16/13). so far it has been pretty smooth. My problem is that, I know there will be plateaus from everything I have read, but I do not know much about them and I can feel myself slowly becomeing discouraged. My first week post surgery I lost 10lbs and my second week post I lost 9. Going into my third week I have no lost a pound for about 5 straight days. I have just been stuck. I have started to exercise within comfort levels, but still nothing. Is this 3rd week plateau normal and how long does it last?

I know where Moscow Mills is! Anyways.....your first 2 weeks generally involves liquids, with your 3 week being able to introduce creamy soups and some other things. I had the same experience. Your body is adjusting to the change in eating habit, even from week to week. I had to get myself on a regimented eating schedule of every 2-3 hours. I also started tracking my food intake on myfitnesspal again and this has helped break the plateau. last week I lost 4 lbs so I was thrilled! I also don't recommend looking at that scale everyday. It will discourage you as your body weight fluctuates daily. I try to save it for Sunday and Monday morning. Hang in there!

Don't get into the habit of using the scale to celebrate your success, use how your clothes feel, your energy levels, and just continue to focus on eating your protein. This is the time to look at your food, are you eating the right about of carbs, how much water are you really getting. Don't get discouraged, the scale will start moving again.

I did the same thing. Just don't worry and don't give up. It will begin coming off again.

I lost 8lbs the first week post op., but the 1st week tends to be mainly water not fat. At the end of my 2nd week I stalled for nearly two weeks then the weight started to come off again. Generally you can expect to lose 2-3 pounds a week when things settle down. Don't worry the weight will start coming off again, whats happening is perfectly normal, weightloss is a long slow race, you will get there. As Tommy Boy says try not to get on the scales every day (easier said than done!)

Even though your scale may not be moving, that doesn't mean that you're not losing! Just keep in mind that your body needs time to adjust to the large amount of weight that is being lost in such a short time, and you will see times where the scale doesn't move. I notice that the scale doesn't move but I notice that clothes that once were too tight fit better, even though I'm not losing pounds. Don't get discouraged, you can't lose all of your excess weight in the first month, this is a process to get down to your goal weight. Stay positive!
