Apnea and snoring is gone. I am on half my previous blood pressure meds. Feel healthier in general.
And it's been less than two weeks!
In my case, my bp went from 140/90 to 126/77 and its only been 16 days. My tryglicerides was 379, which technically i should be dead lol, but I will get it checked later this month, so I'm hopeful on that. As for acid reflux, I have been taking nexium for 8 years, and since my surgery, I haven't had a one. I do take a sip of mom once in a while though when the acid starts to get crazy in my stomach. tablespoon every 3-4 days... So major improvement there. I'm extremely pleased with my results so far.
When I was 400lbs, I would wake up all through the night as well. Although never diagnosed, I assumed I had sleep apnea. Waking when I stopped breathing......60 lbs lost, and I sleep all night. It's great. Losing weight benefits our bodies more ways than one!!! Good luck!
After some time and thought, I don't think the procedure eliminates any of the ailments. Its the weight loss that gets rid of the ailments.
BTW if anybody wanted to know, my latest stats:
BP: 114/64 (previously, I had elevated BP, hypertension levels)
no acid reflux
Tryglicerides: 176 (before it was 379)
so yes, overall health improves as you lose weight. imagine that :P
My Sleeve was done 19 months ago and I have lost about 100 lbs. I am type II diabetic and before I was taking 2000 mg of Metformin and 100 units of insulin daily. Within a couple of months I was completly off insulin but I am still on the Metformin. My A1C has been staying steady for the past year at about 6.1 so I am very happy with that (and no, I do not watch what I eat)
My blood pressue is now under control, I was on 3 medications and am now down to just 1, and it has been doing very well for quite a while now. I still have my acid reflux so I have to take something for that daily, I was hoping to get rid of that but it hasnt happened yet.
My A1C is holding steady at 5.1 and I haven't taken anything for the Diabetes since surgery. I can tell my blood sugar is more controlled by the way I feel. Got off all my blood pressure meds last week. Acid reflux is still present but I expect that will clear up soon as well. Most important was controlling my blood pressure and blood sugar so I say yes it does conquer those illnesses.
I've gone from 280 units of humalog a day down to roughly 40 units of humalog a day so far. Drop some other meds entirely. BP meds dropped from 400mg a day down to 50 mg twice a day. Sleep Apnea however is likely to stay as I've only gone down from 14 to 11 after dropping 80 pounds(at the time of the titration), no more edema and I had it very bad in feet, ankles and calves.
That is great news, Norm! I would LOVE not having to be plugged in to the CPAP, and it would be great to be off the metformin as well.
