    Default Wearing a Body Bug

I recently bought a body bug to wear on my arm all day to really get an idea of how many calories I am burning. I am tracking my food so diligently on myfitnesspal.com, so I figure I should monitor the output just as intensely.

Anyone else use one of these?

Yup. I've been using one for about 34 weeks now, according to my BB log in page. It REALLY helped me know exactly what I was burning. I hate the way the food database is set up though, so I stopped logging my food into the program a couple months after I bought it. It's just too annoying to enter foods from scratch, and the database isn't nearly as extensive as MFP's, nor as easy to enter new foods. I just use it to see how many calories I burn and then subtract the calories I log into MFP from that.

It's really nice to see that I actually burn more in some instances with certain things (i.e. walking) than what MFP says, and it really gives me a better picture of exactly what I need to do in terms of activity to maintain or lose weight.

I bought one a while back and just started wearing it again this week. I love it, I like to play games with myself to see how many calories I can burn by a certain time of the day, or how many more steps from one day to the next. I also have a FitBit Zip which syncs with your iphone basically a pedometer on steroids.

I love my BodyBugg but something's wrong w/ the "upgrade" the maker did, or rather, 24 hour fitness, who they sold the BodyBugg to. Something to do w/ Java or possibly my Norton prefs. I've called them a million times and I need a day when I'm ready to be on the phone again to straighten it out.

I HATE upgrades that turn out to be downgrades for the user!

I have to turn my web antivirus off whenever I want to use the BB site, Dee. It's annoying as hell, but Kaspersky doesn't like their site. I only turn the Internet protection portion off, so maybe you can turn that off with Norton, or shut Norton down altogether when you go to use the software? Just a thought. I have no doubt that it's a combination of Norton and Java.

I starting wearing one 6 months before surgery which is about 2 years ago now. I love mine so much, that I think I've only taken it off 5 days since I put it on the first time. I faithfully track my food everyday and wage it against my calorie burn. It helped me loose 35lbs pre-op. I started becoming very aware of what were good and bad food choices. Post-op - I was able to track if I was meeting basic protein and caloric goals each day.

For me, it has been detrimental device in helping me understand how to affect changes in my diet and lifestyle. Now I use it as a way to keep my self accountable during maintenance. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand their own body better. The best part of it though...I could barely get the velcro to close onto the band when I first got it. Now, my arm has shrunk so much I could order the next size down. Yay!

I have a fitbit dot com (Fitbit) similar to the Bodybugg, but there's no monthly fee. When you pay the $100 for the Fitbit, you get lifetime basic monitoring. I love it, but I forget to wear it. I've had it for about three years. They have a new model coming out later this Spring that looks like a rubber bracelet. It also monitors sleep and steps. Mine is an older model, but there's no real reason to buy another one when mine works just fine.

Love my BodyBugg! Everyday I challenge myself to burn 3,000 calories. I wear it so much, that now I feel naked if I forget to put it on after my shower

I have the fitbit too...it's amazingly accurate and hidden. U can wear it on your pants, in your pocket or on your bra strap. I work in a professional environment and I didn't want to wear something to bulky. I love how it syncs with my iPhone and u only charge it once every two weeks

Fitbit is the most economical and multi-functional fancy pedometer I am aware of.

The FitBit is definitely more concealable than the Bodybugg or Body Media Fit armband. My Mom loves hers just for that reason. The major advantage of the Bodybugg is that it tracks calorie burn through your skin, not through your body motion. It will accurately track your calorie burn through seated exercises like bicycling or kayaking. The FitBit works through motion sensing technology similar to the Nintendo Wii. they both track your sleep efficiency. That is kind of a novel, but really cool feature.

I very much preferred the Bodybugg features over Fitbit, since to me it was just as important knowing my true rmr as much as know how many calories I was burning while actually moving
