How long is the process for the Gastric Sleeve operation?

Hi, I was told today that my insurance approved me for surgery, and that now I have to set up an appointment with the surgeon to determine which surgery will suit me. Now, how long is the the process between now, and the surgery date? I'm new to all of this, so if anyone could assist me as to an estimated date, that'd be helpful. Thanks.

It depends how far your surgeon is booked out. Mine was about 3 weeks after approval from insurance

I was approved from Insurance in less than a week and had my surgery in 2 weeks!! I had to go meet with the surgeon one time before to go over last minute details and had to meet with the nutritionist one last time, for her to go over what I had to eat or drink the the week before surgery and then after!!! It happened so fast and I would do it all over again!!! Good luck!!

My surgeon was booked 30 days out so as soon as I paid his fee, I could pick a date. I actually picked later than I could have for two reasons, 1) I have a lot going on this month and 2) If I was 1st on the list for that day, I was told that I would probably 1st in line that day.

I got my approval on April 1st, my surgery scheduled on April 4th for surgery on April 10th. I have a feeling that they had a cancellation, I'm retired so a short notice surgery dated worked for me. Waiting to get my schedule date was stressful for me. Once I had the date I knew that it was actually going to happen. Good luck to you.

As everyone else has said, it really depends on how busy your surgeon is, how many surgeries a day he/she feels comfortable performing, what days they operate on, and what their pre-op requirements are. For me, I got my insurance approval last Monday, and they called me on Thursday morning with a surgery date that was a little over 3 weeks out. Someone on this forum with the same surgeon as me got the phone call the same day as me, but hers is exactly a week after.

If your surgeon wants you to do a preop diet, they have to account for that process in the scheduling too. Mine requires a 2 week preop diet, regardless of what procedure you have done.
