Default Months since any weight loss

    Hello,

So I am 8 months out of surgery and lost a considerable amount of weight but I still have a lot to loose. I was never loosing fast to begin with and now I haven't lost a pound in a few months. I am getting very nervous! Does any one have any suggestions on how to get my weight loss going again? How many calories should I be eating?

    Thanks

Kovy17, I can tell you are nervous b/c you left out so much info its impossible to answer your questions. How much is considerable? Where did you start weight wise and where are you now? What have you been eating? are you male or female? Hang in there. You can get back on track.

    1) What are you eating?
    2) Are you exercising?
    3) How far away are you from goal weight?
    4) Have you discussed your concerns with your surgeon? nutritionist? or psychologist?

These are very important factors/questions. If you could please answer them I can be of more assistance.

Sorry for the lack of information! I am a female. I have lost 70 pounds and I have about 100 more to lose. I am exercising and am eating a vegetarian diet. I do eat a lot of crackers because sometimes that is the only thing I can keep down. I have talked to my doctor but I am still struggling!

Try changing up your cardio.. Sometimes tricking your muscles work.. Slow down on the crackers.

Okay, after i lost about 110-120# my weight loss stalled. I made some changes to push and get over the goal line. In summary, go back to basics.

Get 60-100G of protein a day using LOW CARB means. That means, no protein bars, but probably low carb shakes like premier protein from Costco
Keep portion sizes petite... eat off tiny plates and use appetizer forks for example
Eat 4-6 times a day, don't let yourself get overly hungry
Don't drink with meals, follow the beginner sleever rules
Cut out crackers and other "empty" calories - I actually suspect that you are under nourished if you are relying on that kind of food too much
Change up your exercise routine. If you do long slow excercise, try changing to higher intensity shorter duration for example.

During my weight loss phase I personally didn't count calories most of the time or worry about fat.I keep portions small, get protein in and minimize carbs. When I do eat carbs, I makes sure they are healthy and low GI - so berries and veggies but not sweet fruit or starchy veggies. Minimize processed foods. No crackers or other low nutritional value high carb food
308# 12/1/2011 Start of Preop Diet
300# 12/12/11 Lapband to Sleeve revision
    158# Feb 2013 - GOAL lost 150# 14 months post op
150# 10/14/2013 - Plastics Dr Sauceda in Monterrey Mexico; removed 5.5# of skin
140# Apr 2014 - maintaining 168# weight loss currently. Very happy with my sleeve and plastics results!

Sounds like you are getting too many carbs and not enough protein. Try more protein shakes and reduce the crackers. I love salt and I have found the only way for me not to eat too many crackers is just not to have them around or get them in individual packs which helps me control the munchies.

Why can't keep the food down? Is it reflux? If so, you will need to take some meds for it.

Crackers should not be eaten that frequently if you do want to lose weight. Lean protein (low fat cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, shakes, tofu, nuts, beans), healthy carbs (veggies) and water.

For exercise, what kind are you doing? How much exercise and how often? If you are over 40, you may need to do an hour a day to get to goal.
    (Goal!!! Maintenance Lane!)

    • Reduce calories intake for weightloss.
    • Exercise for heart health, mental health and weight maintenance.
    • Make realistic goals.
    • Never give up.

I'm in the same boat about losing weight! However, I don't eat any wheat products and almost no carbs. I think I will try what CowGirl Jane suggested! Thanks Cow Girl Jane!

I have been a vegetarian for over 10 years. It is just for personal beliefs.

And thank you for all of the suggestions! Hopefully I will find out why I can't keep a lot of food down and start to change my diet around!
