Default Don't buy so many clothes when you are closer to goal

I have four pair of pants that I bought many years ago (lost weight many years ago, bought pants, regain quickly, so the pants were put away). I just fit into them nicely about a month or two ago. Now they are getting baggy and too long. Very soon they won't fit.

For the first 40 to 50 lbs, I still wear the same clothes.. Once I hit 60lbs, I need new shirts and pants..

I guess the last 10lbs are all around the belly. And the clothes get baggy quick.

I think I am going to good will store this weekend.

i'm going to end up having some of my nicer clothes tailored to fit (of course, these are my old skinny clothes that are too big for me now...YAY!)

most of the clothes i bought when i've been at my biggest i got rid of as soon as i could because i didn't want any reminders around

    YAY FOR NEW SMALLER CLOTHES!!!

I found when i got close to goal that the sizes dropped alot faster! Even if you lose 20 lbs instead of dropping 1 size you drop 2! It seems like the smaller sizes have less lbs in between them! At least that was the case for me. Congratulations on your success! Love Rainbow

I've had the same experience....I had so many awesome shirts for XXL and even smaller XXXL that no longer fit me after just a 10-15 pound additional loss...If there are any guys losing out there that might be interested in some gently used larger cut XXXL clothing Ihave like 40 pounds of it you can have if you pay for shipping or pick up in Jersey...lol Very soon I will have smaller XXXL and XXL....

Otherwise it may be garage sale or Craig's list time....I already donated 3 bags of 4X and big 3X clothes to the veterans home, whatever doesn't sell they will get

Some really good stuff too like some Polo and Eddie Bauer clothing...Long sleeve shirts and some cheaper but practically new shirts as well...

Very soon I need to do a XXL purge also, larger cut XXL and smaller cut XXXL... and I have no more skinny clothes left, since I haven't been this skinny in 20 years! lol An expensive problem yes, but one I'm glad to have....

Funny story, I never updated any of my underwear as I've lostweight since I wear loose fitting soft cotton boxer briefs with elastic waist anyway (the older the softer and more comfortable)....I looked in the mirror this morning and had to laugh...I look like I'm wearing a long skirt. XXL need to go and I need to invest in some L for the next year or so....big difference apparently but I didn't care since no one saw them, but today they extended beyond my new size L shorts...

OMG, talk about underwear. It is the worst when they are falling down when you walk since they are too big.

I'm just starting but was wondering if I should start going through my clothes. I just don't want to jinx myself. I still have that voice in the back of my mind telling me, "yeah, but what happens if you don't lose the weight?" I can see this is not only a physical process but very much a mental workout as well.

I didn't think I would go thru sizes as quick as I did and now I'm selling NEW clothes on ebay! I agree...don't buy too many until you are at goal. I'm now visiting thrift and consignment shops until I'm where I want to be, then look out mall

I had sizes from 10 to 16/18 in my closet, and I didn't buy anything until I hit a size 8, and even then I only bought a couple pairs of pants and some tops, which are more forgiving. Now that I'm at goal (5 pounds below original goal) and in a size 4/6 I've bought more clothes because I really don't want to lose anymore. But that is good advice - it's too expensive to buy a new wardrobe in every size!

JJ, I just totally laughed out loud with the visual of you and your "boxer skirt"! lol Melissa...get rid of the clothes that don't fit. By keeping them, you are setting yourself up to fail (mentally). If you get rid of them, you are getting rid of the heavier Melissa that you never want to see again! You have to purge that from your life...it will be a huge weight lifted! (no puns intended!)

This was the first time EVER that I've gotten rid of all my "fat" clothes. I have a few pairs of size 10s hanging around and one pair of size 16s that were SNUG at Christmas. I used to just stow the big clothes away almost in anticipation of gaining the weight back, and I always did. But not this time. Now there's nothing to go back to, and it's another incentive to keep the weight off. I say get rid of the sizes as you lose and never look back!
