    Unhappy Very Emotional

I don't now what is wrong, I have been very emotional lately, As far as the pain, I have none, I can move walk, Basically continue like i never had surgery. The down side is my protein shake makes me gage. I cant take it. I went and got unflavored protein and mixed it in jello. I think I can do that for a little while. I am trying to drink a lot. I don't know.. I just feel very emotional. On occasion I have a little doubt of was this the right decision.

anyone else felt the same way.

I think everyone feels like that when they were where you are. It is a huge change to your life, your body, your mind and it takes some time to aclimate. Hang in there, try some different flavored shakes (GNC has a very yummy Orange Cream one right now for a limited time and it is truly fantastic!) and give yourself the time you need to get thru this. Take a long hot shower, go for a walk outside in the sun (I think you are probably getting rain today, but maybe tomorrow??). I promise, in a couple of weeks you will be in a better place.

I think many of us felt that way at first. It really does get better, and better. As Wendy said, try different protein powders, and keep sipping your liquids. Get up, move around, breathe deeply, and picture yourself the way you want to look in the future. I'm a firm believer in visualization, and it takes your mind off the daily routine. Keep that big picture in mind, and move forward the best you can every day. You'll never be sorry! Remember, "One day at a time". Good luck

Yeah that lasts at least 11 days...I cry at the drop of a hat these days, and get into the weirdest conversations. I'm told it will pass though.

My 2nd and 3rd week post-surgery were hard. I was struggling a lot with being dizzy and thinking coherently and I doubted the choice to get the sleeve more than once. But it passed - give yourself time. And if you aren't already seeing a therapist I recommend finding one. Talking with mine helped immensely when I had the self-doubt, because I could go over with her all the reasons I chose to have surgery and remind myself that it was a tool.

I was soaking my feet in a hotel hot tub 2 days after surgery, nobody around, and I just started crying. I'm emotional but not really a crier so that was weird for me. It was the icky, hyperventilating, like my grandmother died kind of tears. What we've done is enormous and permanent. We will mourn, be sad, be in pain, take some risks and it will have an emotional toll. Within a month or two, the weight loss becomes noticeable and then the joy of that will sustain you through the challenges and keep you buoyed. All I could do in the beginning was walk and reflect, and it helped. Hang in there!

I can see how it would be hard for a big strong guy to deal with all the emotional stuff of surgery and weight loss. It probably has to do in part to all the hormones stored in the fat cells that are being released as you are losing weight so quickly. Hang in there it will get better and you will adjust. Just know that you did make the right decision for your health and you will feel much better about it soon. If the shakes really bother you try some other form of protein supplement. There are fruit flavored drinks, puddings and jello with protein. I found a lot of variety on a website called Diet Direct. Just know that is will get better.

My doctor told me that when we loose fat we secrete hormones. Also, this can be a very mind altering experience. I have depression and anxiety and my meds are not working like they should.

The only emotion i've felt is boredom. It's been six days since my surgery. Is this something I have to look forward too? I haven't cried since the wife made me watch Twilight and it's not because the movie is sad, I just didn't want to watch it.

Time seemed to stand still after surgery for me. The month after was the longest of my life. And I don't mean that in a bad way, I had a lot of time for reflection and strategy. But time sure did move slowly.
