Hi, I'm having my surgery on 9/29 with Dr. Rumbaut. Dr. Rumbaut banded me ten yrs ago. On 9/29 he will take out my band and replace it with the sleeve.
My surgery will cost $7,000.00 Hospital is an additional $4000-$5,000.
I will be there 10 days. Hotel is running me $78.00 a day on average.
I've spoken with other patients in Australia and the USA. They tell me that their doctor's made them take out the band several weeks prior to be sleeved. As a result they regained their pre-band weight. Apparently their doctor's insist on the stomach going back to it's pre-band look before surgery to avoid leakage. I'm not so much worried as Dr. Rumbaut is the #3 bariatric surgeon in the world and was actually one of the first bandster doctor's to perform the lapband surgery. I do realize I could probably get my surgery done cheaper in other South American countries but I have full confidence in Dr. Rumbaut and that is why I am using him for this delicate procedure.
