7 days post op.. How often should we do #2??

When I got home, I was going to the bathroom regularly, but I did not have any protein in my diet yet( I went home the 3rd day after surgery). I am not having stomach pains or gas cramps. I seem to be doing fine with my hydration, cream soups, teas,& unjury protein, etc. Has anyone experienced this and should I be concerned? I just don't want any future complications especially since everything is going so well. Thx in advance!

I'm right there with you. My Dr recommended me adding miralax but i can't get enough fluid in to make a difference.

When I was 2 weeks post-op I started taking Miralax daily and it HELPED I only take it every other day now.

I am 3 and a half weeks and just today on my own. Miralax and baby food prunes (one tsp with meals) was what my doctors said.

At first it was like a week after surgery and it hurt bad. Then a few times a week it was painful. I took softners and laxative to help. Now four months out and i still have problems. Used to go daily. Now its every three days if I take a laxative.. It sucks! I also drink tons water and fiber.. Doesnt help!

Strange how our bathroom habits change even though they don't reroute any of our plumbing...they just make it smaller. I take ex lax once a week and miralaxs two or three times weekly....i used to be like clock work

I have not had that problem, before surgery i was clockwork every morning, Now, post op, It is a few times a day. Take the miralax or other softner if you are having trouble. Good luck!

pain meds can bind you up too, try a softner, good luck

Thanks everyone for the great feedback. I go to my first post op Dr appt tomorrow. I will let him know what's going on, but it looks like Miralax is in my future. I really appreciate the responses on such a touchy subject.

Wow I had my surgery a week ago today. I havent pooped since that morning its so hard to get all that I need down my doctor suggested 64 oz a day. He told me to try milk of magniesa and correctol. Neither worked. Now that you say try miralax almost daily I will try hope it makes a difference I was so regular before the surgery. I am glad about the weight lost 15 pounds in a week yay! Anyone know how much i should lose in the first monty?
