    Angry Wls article supports discrimination

Today I came across an article that infuriated me. I had to share it as this is the type of thinking that causes discrimination against WLS patients. Being a Christian this article upsets me even more as they suggest WLS is morally wrong. However if one removes an appendix or a tumour it's not?? Seriously I just can't even think right now I'm so mad.

Read it. Just put a comment on her site. Basically fat person who wishes to remain fat by way of righteousness. Sad really.

It's sad but people don't understand WLS just like many other things in life. Unless you walk a mile in our shoes you don't have a clue. Medicine is not as far along as we all would like to think. Thank God we do have Doctors who understand and care to help us with WLS. It's like about 15 years ago I heard how bad coffee was for people. Now its good for you. Go figure. I think in the future they will realize there is more to this than will power. I personally have my own theories why but.. You don't need to here all my babbling. Just know we have the right to do WLS if we choose. Some of us know there are hypocrites out there. This girl doesn't sound like she is the sharpest tool in the shed. Thanks for sharing it reminds me of what I don't want to be

I couldn't figure out where to comment????

She is obviously misinformed about 'taking' the easy way out.

Here was my email to the article writer:
Who do you think you are to judge anyone that decided to change their lives to become healthier thru bariatric surgery? since you already stated that you are fat i think the only reason you have not yet got the surgery done yourself is because you may not have the funds to do it or you are so ignorant that accepted your fat life style knowing that this condiction may make you die early. I am sorry if i am being rude but getting this surgery was the best decision i ever made. Some people have health issue that no matter what they do their metabolism does not respond and the only opcion is the surgery so maybe before you judge people you should research little more before you open you fat mouth (your own words) and if you want to disscasse this further you can email me back with real facts!thank you

Melissa is ignorant and will remain unhealthy.... I feel bad for her. Maybe some day she will "get it" but if she doesn't I really don't care because I'm HAPPY with my decision and I've had my gall bladder out and my appendix and I'm catholic!

Wow I read the article. Wow! It is interesting how some people do not understand and they do not care to be informed!!! This article seriously pissed me off! I am so grateful for my surgeon who recognized I needed some help and gave me a gift to help me. I feel so blessed for that.

    Thanks for sharing that article!!!!

This is the link. She responded to me - its a full on stoush!!!

Melissa's Epic Outpost - LOL I've had weight issues all my life, so your statement that I'm uninformed is absurd at best. People need to stop blaming everything under the sun for their inability to control themselves. Chances are, if I hit such a nerve with you, you're one of the people who hasn't gotten to the point where you're willing to take responsibility for your own actions. Whether you like it or not, there are very few people who have health conditions that keep them from losing weight as long as they're willing to move more and eat less.

Jenny Bay - Melissa - sweeping generalisations seem to be your preferred method of communication. There is a word for this, it's called Bigot. So, if its ok with you, those of us who are unable to stave off life threatening medical issues with enough exercise and salad will probably do the unchristian thing of taking the medical advice and submit to the dangers of surgery. I wouldn't call putting your life at risk with surgery an easy way out. However, telling others how they should live is.

Here's what I wrote, don't know if she will delete it.

I thank God everyday that I was able to have the gastric sleeve. I have lost 80
pounds several times in my life but put it all back on plus a lot more. Yes, I had
surgery to lose my weight this time, but I won't put it back on. I respect your
right to your opinion, but you really should research this more. Without this
surgery, I would die from my health issues. God has given me a new lease
on life and I am very thankful to Him.

Here was her email to me just now:

I've worked in a hospital, and am well aware of obesity, endocrinology issues, and the facts surrounding bariatric surgery.
    2. I haven't had surgery, because I have the self-control and discipline to lose weight on my own. I'm not about to allow someone to re-route my insides instead of digging in my heels, putting down the fork and exercising.
    3. I've lost nearly 100 lbs in just over a year ON MY OWN, so clearly I have not accepted my fat life style. It's called discipline. No, it isn't easy, but the vast majority of people CAN lose weight if their willing to make healthier lifestyle choices.

It's really sad that no one these days wants to take responsibility for anything anymore. Sorry if you're offended, but people need to take responsibility for their own actions instead of trying to blame heredity, their life, stress, family, the dog, etc. on their inability to control themselves. It's my fault that I'm fat, the same way that it was probably your fault that you were fat.

Unless they have a medical condition that keeps them from losing weight (which most people don't), the vast majority of people don't get fat through no fault of their own. When you eat too much and you get little physical activity, you gain weight. Period. But if you go and ask 10 fat people why they're fat, most (if not all) of them are going to tell you they don't eat very much and try to blame it on something else. Complete B.S....and you know it's B.S., whether or not you're willing to admit it.

And here was my response to her:

So you are saying that majorly of people can lose weigh on their own but what about the minority of the people who can't because you just confirmed that there is people that is not able to lose weight on their own like the people that the doctors said that surgery is the only option so maybe instead of disrespecting a group of people so maybe that is what you should of stated it originally because you are entitle to your own opinion but not every one gets this done because they have other choices. See I didn't have that choice so maybe you should try to help not judge and I did fell very disrespected by your poor article.

She sounds like a total bitch to me. She's one to check on in a year after she's put back on that 100# plus another 30!! As someone put on here a while back...does she take a car to work or does she walk? If she drives, she's taking the easy way out! I see she has glasses on, well, why doesn't she just get closer to see? Why does she need glasses? She wears make-up, probably colors her hair, and who knows what else. People can be assholes all they want, but until they REALLY, and I mean REALLY practice what they preach, they just need to shut the HELL up! These are the people that it's not even worth my time to argue with. They are so narrow minded they can't see reason. I thought of a million things I could say to her, but she's not worth the effort. I would rather surround myself with positive, supporting people. Good luck and carry on!!

This just further supports the significant negative correlation between intelligence and religiosity. Those people with higher IQ scores have lower religiosity practices. Sorry..but it has been scientifically proven..I mean no offense my Mom is one of the most religious people I know.
