    Default confused

I had my sleeve done on March 4 2013 and I am currently on all liquid diet. I feel like my doctor really didn't explain what I could eat or should I say drink. And how long am I supposed to be on all liquids for? I did meet with the dietician but she put me on a very low calorie diet 2 weeks before surgery. I came to find out after my surgery that I should have been on a liquid diet only. I kind of feel like the dietitian just wanted me to buy the bariatric foods from there office so now I am lost as to what I should or shouldn't be having...

Everyone is different BUT I was sleeved on 2/1/13 and did 1 week clear liquids, 2 weeks liquids with fat free cream soups, 1 week soft food and then last Sunday I started regular food!!!!! Dr. Alvarez sleeved me and he said focus on produce and protein. He said get in 64 ounces of liquid per day and 60 grams of protein, each week he would send me an email with my diet!!!!!! Hope this helps!!!!! If you need that info I think I still have it and could forward it to you!!!!!! Have a great day!!!!!!!

I have a pretty comprehensive packet that I could either fax you if you have a fax number from my doctor at Mayo Clinic? I get sleeved on Wednesday of this week. I have done 2 weeks of liquids prior to surgery. I will be liquids only for 2 days, modified liquid for 2 weeks (meaning everything pureed) and then moving on to adding more soft items to that very soft-soupy category. they actually discourage fruits and alot of vegetables depending which ones they are because of how difficult they are for your body to digest. any veg which a hull (think bean/corn is a no no) or any fruit-veg with a seed is bad too. no carbonated beverage and straws are horrible. you drink to fast and suck too much air into your sleeve.

My doc has the highest success rate in the entire country so I am really confident in his teams advice.

I will be happy to send over the info. I would can and email it but my scanner crashed. My husband has already left for work or I would send it with him to do but I can gladly fax it to you if you would like.

God bless and best wished for lots of loss!

    Regina

I'm surprised they didn't give you any guidelines. This is one I've posted before that I found doing a google search. It's nearly exact to the one I got from my docs. Maybe it will help.

Thanks for the info. I called my doctor this morning and it seems the dietitian dropped the ball... she gave me the diet for some one starting the very low calorie diet and not the pre surgery one.. they are sending me the correct info today with a free weeks supply of protein supplements.

My clinic wasn't overly helpful either. I found the patient guidelines from Peachtree really helpful. It even lists the medication you should avoid.
