    Default Possible Revision surgery

Hi Everyone! I am a 11 year veteran Mexican bandster that is experiencing some weight gain along with no restriction just recently. I'm checking into getting a revision surgery. One big question I have is if my BMI isn't bad (26.3) can I get the surgery so that I won't gain weight? Desperate to stop this cycle! I've gained 15 pounds so far and unfortunately it seems to be getting worse. Anyone been in this boat before?

they will do it in Mexico.. but you may have scar tissue from the band that causes issues.. i know someone that wanted the sleeve and ended up with a plication due to scar tissue from the band.. good luck.. stop eating bad. .. go on a diet and dont gain while you figure it out!

You're going to have to research the different docs. Some still have BMI requirements. Just because it's Mexico doesn't mean all the docs don't have requirements.

I am in the process of revising from band to sleeve (heading down today). Have had my band for over 5 years, but the band never provided good restriction for me. It was always either way too tight or way too loose. My doc told me they went with the larger size because they were worried the smaller one would be too small and there's no medium. I never got that sweet spot and never got below 200 lbs.

I don't want to offend you (so please don't take this the wrong way), but you can gain weight with any weight loss surgery. The honeymoon period ends at some point. We've all seen those stories of bypass patients who have regained it all. Sounds like you've had years of great success. Have you had an adjustment recently? Sounds like the band worked great for you for quite a while, perhaps an adjustment is all you need?

    Starting weight for lap-band = 252
    miserable 5 years later
Starting weight for VSG = 229
    Pre-op weight = 219

I was a revision from the band to the sleeve and let me tell you that I Looooove it! I am losing nearly as much as a bypass and no more fills, reflux, vomiting etc . Or even asthma!
Come on over! We are waiting for you!

The scar tissue is a BIG concern. I'm trying to limit consumption and going day by day. We've had a death in our immediate circle and Im afraid I'm comfort eating quite a bit.

I definitely understand that weight gain is possible with anything. I just don't seem to have as much restriction as before. I had an unfill due to something stuck and she (my doc) refilled twice now under flouroscope and I feel like I have hardly any restriction BUT it appears on the flouroscope as if it is very tight....
