    There are a lot of things that go into this decision. Since you don't have >100 pounds to lose, you might want to think about the sleeve. Usually you lose a little slower with the sleeve but there are still plenty of people on here you are loosing lots with the sleeve! you don't have to worry about dumping and malabsorption.

    I've put a couple of blog posts about this, which include some links to research papers on the issue, hope it helps;

    http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/b...vs-bypass.html

    http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/b...us-bypass.html

    Once I'd read all these papers that suggest the results are comparable, but the procedure results in more normal eating habits and digestion, it seemed a no-brainer to me.

    Good luck.

    I agree with Just Jean. I would go with the sleeve. 80 pounds within a year is definitely doable. I'm almost 6 weeks out and lost just over 30, another friend of mine has lost over 40 in the same time frame. As long as you stick to it, get your proteins in, and exercise when your body is able that goal is totally reachable! Good Luck!

    I think the sleeve is a better choice. My hospital did more sleeves last year than bypass. Good luck with which ever op you go with

    I was supposed to have the gastric bypass but for an unknown medical reason, the dr. did the sleeve instead. What a blessing! I can't imagine going through life with the full bypass. I agree with the others..........you could definitely do it! I am 20 days out and have lost 30 lbs. Good luck!!
