I don't know. I just went to the link and it states, "It appears to help hair grow by ensuring your scalp is healthy and free of fungal infections that might inhibit growth."
So, does that mean if your hair loss is NOT from a fungal infection, it would be useless to use the Monistat??? Any opinions, ladies?

One thing I read while looking this stuff up was about the Nitrates. Something about the nitrates allowing more oxygen into the hair follicles, or something along those lines. I also just read that you may have increase shedding when you stop using, so who knows. I may give it a shot.

Here's another article I just read...

Hm, thats a new one on me! Ok, heres my experience: iron supplements have caused my hair to grow back and it is as thick as ever. I am losing less hair every day than I was before I even had surgery. At 4 mo post-op I literally burnt up vacuum belts from the piles of hair I was getting off the floor outsidemy bathroom where I get ready. Now, back to normal or better! Best wishes!

My mom has thyroid issues and has dry, brittle hair that people are constantly saying is "dead." She keeps it shorter because it looks better.

Honestly, those instructions are way more in depth than what I do. Apply cream to scalp. Leave it alone. I wash at most twice a week (with hair just past my butt, it would never dry otherwise.) I wash it normally. I don't use carrier oils-too much work. I do lightly oil my hair with jojoba oil, but that is completely separate from the Monistat. And I wouldn't put neosporin in my hair just because I wouldn't want my hair to look greasy. Monistat works for me. I follow the LITHA doctrine (that is, Leave It The H*** Alone) when it comes to my hair- no heat, etc.

Not sure how often I'll do it. I'm pretty sure it lasts a while in the tissues so I'm thinking every other day will be enough. Will be interesting to see how it works.

my surgeon told me i should not use oily stuff in my hair cause it can meke it fault instead of make it grow. i guess thats why persons with oily skin have more problems loosing hair. just be careful

You really don't use that much, so it's probably was less expensive than Prograine or whatever. And to the person who posted about greasy hair being more likely to fall out, I'd love to see a reputable source on that info. I've had a blog on long hair for a few years (although, admittedly I am overdue with a post,) and have researched and tried tons of different things on my hair, but I've never come across anything about greasy hair falling out. I know long haired people (we're talking my length) who slather coconut oil in their hair and leave it on overnight with no problems. On YouTube, you can check out Torrinpaige's channel. She does that and has lovely hair (oddly enough, almost the same color as mine, but blonder.)

And seriously, if any one has any particular questions about this kind of thing, I'm really a nice person and won't bite if you PM me. I am not a cosmetologist (although my sister is and she says I have some of the healthiest hair she's ever seen,) but through a lot of trial and error, I've found some good, natural ways to handle hair.

I'm starting week two of my monistat treatment and I SWEAR it is working! I am only applying along the crown and I can see that the roots just along the crown are already growing faster than the rest of my hair- unbelievable!

The other day I read another article about Head & Shoulders treating yeast infections on the scalp. I was going to copy and paste the article on here and now I can't find it. Might be another reason that Monistat seems to work.

Anyone else seeing any results? I have yet to buy mine, I forgot to the other day. May have to get some this week!

    well...

it's the twentyfirst...been using the cream every two to three days. My hair loss has not changed...other than to say my hair is so thin i'm considering a wig. the hair left though is definitely growing faster. ive grown at least half an inch in the last three weeks, maybe more.

with regard to the hair loss itself...i know it will stop. i know from reading dozens of other folks posts that the hair loss will continue for at minimum another month....by that time i will have lost half the volume. i'm not stopping the monistat, but as i said, i don't think its helping with loss at all...regrowth faster...yes i think it is.

Well here's a pic of my bangs 3 wks into using monistat twice a week for about 12 hrs. I'll try to get one of my hair part later when hubby can do it. I took one of it as well at the start and I am seeing less scalp but it's hard to tell. But my bangs started at where they were in my avatar and have grown that much in 3 wks, back of my hair is the same, just under an inch. Posting it now because I have a hair appt next week. My scalp is definitely less itchy as well. I'm using L'Oreal - EverCreme Cleansing Conditioner, I use a touch of argan oil mixed in water to mist my hair at night before I braid it for bed...and I do use a flat iron when I go out maybe once a week but otherwise I use a hairdryer maybe twice a year. I miss my "able to sit on it" thick hair but at 53 I'm going to stick to mid back length and hope for my fullness back, it just suits me more now. If I come upon my hair pics from a couple yrs ago I'll post them. Looks a lot like yours Erse but my hair is naturally dark brown with reddish highlights. (I color it dark brown/black now) When I cut it the first time in a very long time about 3 yrs ago, I donated 21 inches, braided, to locks of love.
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
