hi! how much did you pay for your sleeve operation??? in greece it costs 6000-10000 euros
I paid £5,500 in 2009. I believe they charge £6,500 now after the exchange rate changes and the economic melt down.
I know of a lady who paid £7,000 for the op in Manchester and that included 2 years follow up. I think there are far more options now than a couple of years ago.

In Europe one of the best places to have gastric surgery is Lithuania, Kaunas. There works a fantastic bariatric surgeon prof. Almantas Maleckas (NordBariatric) who also works in Sweden, but he is Lithuanian. He is the one who trains other surgeons to do the bariatric surgery from Baltic countries, from Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic. And what is more, the price in Lithuania of gastric surgery is one of the lowest in Europe, so that is 2 birds in one shot - great quality for great price. hope this info will be useful for someone![]()
So you were really lucky that you got the surgery covered by health insurance. But there should be an exact BMI from which the medical insurance covers the surgery? As far as I know, for example in Sweden BMI should be like 40 and there are waiting lines, althogh a good candidate for the surgery is considered a person with 35 BMI, or even lower if the weight is constantly increasing or there are some diseases caused by an overweight.
Tracey, I am looking at cosmetic bliss, but how do all the post op tests work? And what about after surgery... i know the aftercare is email and phone, but what if something goes wrong and you need to see the Dr, what happens?
I am also looking at the Spire, but there cost is £10,800
Hi , I had my surgery in the Czech Republic at Turnov under Dr Martin Hruby. It was much much cheaper than in the UK (where I live) and I think the hospital was far more relaxed and less crowded than it would have been at home too. The care I received was brilliant and the price was only 4200 euro which is less than half of what it would be in the UK. I would recommend them to anyone!
My surgery was done here in France by Dr. Topart in the Clinique de L'Anjou in Angers. He is one of the 2 leading bariatric surgeons in this country.
It did not cost me anything. It was payed for by my French health insurance. By the way: French healthcare is still the best in the world.
They do not think light;y about these operations and the whole pre-operation procedure is long and hard. Post-op check-ups are often.
I had my band done in Belgium in 2007 and was very pleased with the service and the hospital. I am going back to my surgeon in April to get the sleeve done instead. The op will cost just under £6000, so much cheaper than UK. I wish I didn't have the hassle of traveling etc and esp having to get back to the hospital if anything went wrong, but the price difference meant this was my option.
