    Exclamation Delayed period. Why?

I'm not pregnant but to be sure I shall take my 3rd test tomorrow. Fact is I have heard and seen stories of women who were heavier than me when they had their op and then within a month - bam - they get their periods back. I have now waited almost 2 months and I still havn't seen anything. Not even a small break through bleed. I have PCOS and I understand that this will cause issues but....normally in the past when I lost just a stone it was enough to make me go back. But this time nothing.

PCOS is a tricky bastard, and our bodies change and react differently. I am 33 years old, and had a hysterectomy in 2006 because of a period that wouldn't stop, regardless of what was tried. I skipped periods frequently, and often had to take several pregnancy tests to convince myself that I was truly NOT pregnant, even when I had been very careful. Are you on anything to assist with it? Some docs recommend metformin/glucophage, others go straight for the androgen blockers like spironolactone, and some prefer to put PCOS patients on birth control(helped me some). Also, make sure you're going to an endocrinologist for this...don't leave it up to your OB/Gyn. It may be called Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, but it involves SO much more than that.

Here is the thing to remember: What has worked before could stop working at any time, even things like slight weight loss. Major weight loss can certainly help, but right now, there is a lot of division over what the root cause of PCOS is, and whether obesity causes PCOS or the PCOS causes obesity. Best of luck to you.

Thanks Christina. I am under an endocronologist and have been every since I was 12. This condition has been nothing but a total nightmare for me, my family and my boyfriend. Thankfully as of yesterday I finally started my period! And on the day I found out I had finally dropped below 18 stone mark. So double joy for me and my boyfriend. I understand very well as to what your saying as I have become a PCOS knowledge buff from my early teens. It is a horrible condition and I am very sorry about what you had to go through.
