I am about three and a half weeks post op. My advice is to buy all your protein shakes, broths, soups, and vitamins and have them ready for when you get home. You will be in no mood to shop. I also ordered a heavy supply of Wellese Liquid Protein and various vitamins. Once you come home from surgery you're going to want to develop a good vitamin regimen that will have you consuming them throughout the day. Remember to always allow two hours of time before and after taking calcium as the calcium does not bind when iron (or one of the other vitamins--can't remember) is present. Gummy vitamins are tasty. Also, I didn't know about biotin prior to surgery, but when I started worrying about the possibility of hair loss, I started searching the forums and found out that biotin is important for hair growth. Walmart has a liquid form of it which is easier to take than the big old pills you might find elsewhere. Last piece of advice is to remember that day two through four can be rough to say the least. Continue to take your protein shakes and sip slowly several times throughout the day. I had the most trouble with getting my water in, and I still struggle to drink the required amount. Oh Yeah: Despite what some will say on here you will be in no mood to exercise until about week three--I was very light headed, and I could barely walk around the block the first two weeks.
It's 3 weeks 3 days. I had my surgery Dec. 18. I lost most of that weight in the first two weeks though. I've been on the infamous three week plateau. Since I am short and I have less to lose, it will go slowly, but I'm patient. I am guessing I will only lose about five to seven pounds a month from this point on.
Hi I'm 2 months out and feeling great. I am 64 and had no complications and surgery went well. I have only lost 28 lbs but I have thyroid issues which slows it way down. Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey.
