Did any have an unusual stomach report? At my 2week appt my Dr. Informed me I had H pylori by biopsied stomach report from the laboratory. I will need a course of antibiotics at my next appt. Now that was unexpected to say the least.
Same here, it was not later that 10 out of surgery that they had me starteted on 2 antibiotics and one stomach protector. I am not tolleratiing well amoxicillin in the past and it was impossibly painful doing it with a freshly stiched stomach. So they changed one of the two. Two weeks of horse pills twice a day.... nasty. however I start to drink=gulp water almost immediately and that was cool.
Helicobacter Pylori is a bacteria that has been linked to several diseases and seems to be connected to gastritis and ulcers to mentions some.
of course we have not much left in our stomach so it is better that they control the infection.
Everyone stomach get tested after surgery, and many of us got tested before surgery. I had even a colonoscopy and gastriscopy performed couple of months before and they did not find it, but the biopsy during surgery showed positivity so they had me started on the antibiotic therapy
I had H-pylori 2 weeks prior to surgery. Never had before but I got such bad heartburn (never in 49 years had heartburn) I knew something is wrong. Ended up being my yearly women check and told my NP and she did a blood test and it came back positive. On Antibiotics for two weeks, last day was the day before surgery. Had some extra gastric juice (not true heartburn) after surgery for 8 months (on Rx protonix) and have been fine ever since. So if things are different in your body---you know---get it checked out. Good Luck Linda
