NO this is NOT true at all.
I have a client who was burned over 65% of her entire body by an explosion.....what they had to do was regrow peices of her own skin to make patches to be placed where she needed skin. She told me that even her own was rejected by her body at times. The closest thing to human skin is pig skin (yes even chimps) NO other persons cells can be used - that's a fallacy.

I think this particular MEME is wishful thinking. Everyone wants something for nothing and desperately wants to believe it is possible. Especially when it involves getting something that costs thousands of dollars for the vanity.

It is 'possible', but cost prohibitive: University of Michigan Trauma Burn Center - University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor

I have an ex-boyfriend who was burned over 87% of his body, and has had over 30 reconstructive surgeries. At the time,he was the 2nd worst burn patient to come out of the burn center alive. With him they did use cadever skin, but it was not usually the 'final' skin. He had a patch of skin on his thigh that was not burned (nor hairy) and they used that place to harvest every couple weeks. Then it would be prepared by slicing a bunch if slits into it (like mesh) and then applied. They put the slits in to be able to stretch the skin to cover a greater area.
