    Default Furry tongue

I was sleeved on the 27th so now day 3, I've noticed my tongue seems almost furry like, it's not thrush though, I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this.
I'm managing to tolerate water and juice, tea, soup, jelly and yogurt and milky drinks. Is it just because I'm not chewing food?
I've been brushing my teeth more frequently to freshen my mouth and have brushed my tongue to try get rid of the furry feeling but to no avail. Any advice would be appreciated.

I was sleeved on Dec 18th and I had the furry tongue too. And it didn't seem like thrush to me either. I just kept brushing my tongue with my toothbrush and it eventually went away. So weird!

Yup! I am having the same thing. Brushing my tongue regularly helps. It also seemingly takes on the color of protein drink that I am drinking too, and the color does not go away easily.

I think it is from the protein in the protein shakes. I found that bushing helped some, but I found some mouth wetting lozenges at Walmart -- sugar free of course helped even more -- plus my mouth felt fresh longer. When I am away from home, I carry Listerine breath strips too! It got better once I was eating more regular food -- that is why I think it is the protein in the shakes Here's to a Tremendous Terrific 2013!

I had the same problem. My pain medication was lortab elixir so I assumed it was from that because when I stopped my medication it went away as well. No amount of tongue scrubbing helped.

I had the same thing following my surgery. Looked like a white film on my tongue. I thought I posted about this, but can't find where I did. Anyways, I spoke with an NP about it, and was told it's just because of the changes your body is going through, extra protein, no food, etc. So, yeah, don't stress! :]

Try adding yogurt kefir into your daily meals or as a snack with a scoop of unflavored protein, it is a delicious treat and replaces the good bactria missing from your stomach which causes a yeast infection on your tongue. This happen to me and my doc noticed it during my 1 week checkup and explained it to me. He perscribed a rinse but I took the kefir instead.
