    Default Newly sleeved

Hello, my name is Nicole and I had the gastric sleeve done on mon. 17. I thought I was well prepared for this, I helped my mom who had RNY 6 weeks ago, but I just feel like I am going to fail. My biggest thing right now is taking my meds. I have 4 that I am suppose to take, and it seems impossible whenn you can't have anything but liquids and you have to crush the pills... Any encouraging words would be welcomed!

I had a hard time with the meds too but mostly they were injected til I left the hospital. They didnt crush my meds there and so they were small enough for me to swallow after 2 days. For the liquid pain meds I take that and then I drink a bit of my premier protein drink which is chocolate to chase the nasty taste away. I too felt like I was going to fail but I am slowly learning that this is a MAJOR life changing event and that with all life changing events comes learning and mistakes. Just take it slow and remain positive and things will fall into place little at a time. I am always here for you if you need anyone to talk to just hit me up I am on this site a lot during the day

Hang in there. I was sleeved on Monday and have been getting my drugs injected or crushed at this point. The first week or so is bound to be the hardest, but we just gotta keep putting one step forward at a time. You can do it.

You will make it! The meds at first are horrible! But you will be swallowing pills again before you know it. I used a pill splitter and just split it into several pieces. Did not taste quite as bad as crushing the whole thing.

Hang in there, it gets better I promise and it's totally worth it!! I only crushed my pills for a week then my nurse told me i could take them whole because I was having such a hard time with them so call your doctor and talk to him about your concerns/issue! As soon as those little suckers hit my stomach (no matter how well I "disguised" them in pudding or yogurt) it HURT, I'm talking pain to the point that there were a couple times my daughter was standing across from me when i took them and she knew the second they hit my stomach because I made "the face". Don't be to hard on yourself, this is a huge adjustment to the way you were eating, drinking and thinking just a week ago so give it time and keep your eye on the prize!! ((HUGS))

Just take it one day at a time. Try your best to get down all the medicine, liquid, protein, etc., but don't beat yourself up if you fall short on some days. The first few days are about healing. Also, make sure you are walking even if you don't feel like it. My husband had to drag me out of the house on some days to get me walking, but I'm glad he did. Best wishes to you!
