I had surgery on Wednesday and I am miserable. I still have a lot of gas in my stomach and I hace a hard time getting up and down. Any suggestions on how to make this better?
Gas x strips will definately help with the gas! Keep on schedule with your pain meds. I promise everyday will get better. On day 3 post op, I thought my world was going to end, I was so extremely miserable. I survived!! I hope that things start to feel better tomorrow.
Well I was on morphine for the first day and then loritab elixir and truthfully the pain was not that bad. Except when I tried getting up or rolling out of bed. The gas dissipates after a few days and after the first movement too. Well then you go through some weird gas things cause substance is moving through your system again but it goes pretty fast. I was in public 4 days after surgery for limited periods of time and sat through church 6 days afterwards.
Try to use your legs more to get up and down. Easier said then done, but it will help your abdomen form feeling stressed and pain and keep your lower back from reacting. I threw my lower back out and now almost two weeks from surgery it is the only part that hurts. In fact it has been the most painful part of the process.

Everyone is different and as everyone says it gets better each day. For me it was day 5 that I started to feel like I was getting back to normal. Hope for your speedy recovery and HAPPY HOLIDAYS,
Its only been two days.
Slow down there. Two days out. Take it easy and just know that it will get better each day.
hi there. I wanted to tell you that you shoukd be taking a pain med for a couple days. Sleep and walk and then sleep and walk again. You have to roll sideways to get out of bed. Stay on your back. If you have any compression garment this will help with the aching in the stomach when moving around. Buy a ton of gas x strips and take em all day. Youll feel good soon.
As a side note, I did need pain meds and nausea med for about 5 days. I did have some pain behind my right shoulder blade I'm guessing from gas. I didn't need gas medicine though. But I was told my terrible nausea was just a side effect for some, not all, from the anesthesia.
Thank you all for the helpful comments. It is now day 7 and I am feeling better. I still am having bad pains in my right side and I now have little red dots all over my stomach. The doctor just blew them offand said they could be a couple different things but they really bother me. I guess each day will prove to be better :-)
