Weight loss STOPPED once pureed foods started?!?!?

I am 5' tall and went in for surgery on 11/27/12. I dropped 13lbs (down to 192) in the first 10 days, when I was on the liquid diet, but since then the weight loss has STOPPED! I went to pureed foods after the first week and that's when the weight loss really came to a halt, but I'm still eating very small portions and going strictly by the guidelines of the docs as far as low fat/sugar items, drinking water and getting my 60 grams of protein in. Right now, I'm even teetering between 192-193 over the past 5 days...so not only have I not lost but I'm gaining a pound back. Has anyone else experienced this, especially so early on????

YES! Just about everyone experiences the infamous three week stall. I stalled out on day ten and jumped up and down a lb or two for 14 straight days until it finally broke and I started losing again. Nothing to be worried about, your body is just taking a little time out to get adjusted to its new way of life. I can pretty much assure you that you are losing inches so I advise you to take body measurements and keep them in a journal. Chances are that this wont be your last stall and it is encouraging to take measurements during each stall to see how many inches you're losing when the scale won't budge. Just keep getting your water and your protein, be as active as your healing body will allow and the weight will start falling off again in no time. Good luck

Don't panic...we have all been through this. Your body is freaking out right now, not really sure what the heck are you doing, where are all of the calories you used to feed me, so it is trying to hold onto whatever little bits of food you are giving it because it is not sure there will be more. Just relax and ride it out, forget the scale for awhile and just concentrate on eating right and sip,sip,sipping your fluids. Sooner or later your body will give up the fight and let it go...promise!

Get off the scale You are working your sleeve, and it will work for you at a pretty good clip. You've already lost an amazing amount! I would say weigh yourself weekly and enjoy the purees!

I look at it like this: if it takes 1 week to lose 2 lbs, I'll lose 8-10 lbs per month. In a year that's 120 pounds. If I stall for two weeks and then at the end of that stall I suddenly lose 5 lbs, it's even better. Let's be happy that it's doing it slowly rather than so fast that our skin looks like an empty garbage bag.

I was sleeved on nov 7th. As of two or three weeks ago I lost 30. I made a decision to not step on the scale until my next dr appt which is next week. I have felt like I gained but maybe I'm just obsessing because now xl shirts fit me rather than 2x and I bought jeans rather than 20 an 18. I know inches are coming off but I'm feeling bloated and heavy. I made a deal with myself that I was not going to be a Slave to the scale because like all of us it took a while to get to the weight we were and its going to take a while to get to the weight we want to be. Hang in there and think positive. I know we will have stalls but our bodies will kick in especially when we are not stressed out over trying to get thin.

Yes its so normal. I think we all stall at first while our body tries to figure out what the hell is going on..Its ok it kicks back in after a bit. Get off the scale a few days and try and just enjoy your new life. Take the battery out of the scale that helps..Good luck!!

Im in the same position, and I was starting to worry. I lost 25 in 2 1/2weeks, now nothing. The scale is playing mind games with me. Hopefully it shall pass.!

I had surgery almost 4 months ago. I am down 46 lbs and I JUST broke another stall. They are SOOO frustrating !! Just take your time and keep doing the right things it will break. It will happen again what I did was amp up my workouts to help but it still took almost 3 weeks! :-)

I'm going though the samething, I lost 20lbs in 1.5 weeks and now im not losing anything and its been 2 weeks. This acid is driving me crazy and everything I put in my mouth I feel going down my throat and stops at my chest. I see now that everybody went or is going though stall, makes me feel better that I am not alone.

Take the battery out of the scale that helps..Good luck!!

I love that Idea and I can give the battery to my daughter so she can use the scale when she wants to. Other wise I will keep getting on it and going OH NO
