Default What am I doing wrong?

I am 4 weeks past surgery and still only 10lbs weight loss. My daily food diary is 1 protien shake, 1 low fat yogurt, 3 x cups of soup and sometimes a second yogurt. I am at a total loss as to what im doing wrong and why im not losing more weight. Some days i even put on a pound!!!!! When i came home from hospital i was 246lbs, i am now 236. I have no pain and feel healthy, this is really getting me down.

    Hi
Oddly it would help to know if you are a male or female to see if that weight loss is "typical".... As there are more females here I will default there. 10 lbs in 4 wks is exactly on track. Sleeve patients lose 1.5-2 lbs a week average and it depends a lot on what your starting weight is as well. Higher start weight, faster weight loss, you are starting off about mid-low weight wise for this group so 10 lbs a month is really good!. Off the top of my head I'd say check the sodium in the soup, and the carbs overall. Yogurt, sf or reg, or plain? How much protein are you eating? Try to keep it to about 70 gms of protein, less than 20 carbs and just watch the sodium. The days you gain a lb are also normal, it has to do with carb metabolism, you hold water in your muscles when your body is getting ready to use the energy in them. Just look at the overall pic if you can. Oh and try hard to move around more, exercise even 30 min a day, even if you can just walk or swim or even do yoga.
Just some thoughts but you are doing just fine.

i think that you shouldnt weigh yourself everyday. And also measure yourself every week. eventhough the scale stays the same you might loose alot of centimeters

Grace yes indeed im female Thankyou so much for your advice, pre op i was 251 lbs. I am finding it hard to get the protien in, i have ordered some non flavored protien powder to add to soups. The sweet taste of everything available here is driving me nuts, i cant sniff a choc shake without wanting to retch. Sodium may be a problem, i find myself salting soup which i never have done before. I will follow your guidlines and thank you again, it is so go to know that im about right in weightloss.

Smitlien a great idea!!! I will measure myself today thanks

maybe you should eat a bit more - sometimes we put our bodies into starvation mode. You have to eat to loose, just not the same foods or amount.

Try to put more food into your system and drink plenty of water to flush. It will pick up, don't get discouraged!! I found that going on MyFitnessPal.com really helped me track my caloric intake as well as exercise. Helps keep me on track so much easier and see where I'm going wrong when I don't drop weight. Also, start measuring yourself as you can lose inches when you're not dropping pounds.

I lost 10 lbs the 1st week post surgery then stalled in weeks 2, 3, & 4. Not an ounce lost during that time. I'm sure my body was saying..."what the crap did you do to me?" But I am now 78 lbs lighter and doing wonderfully!

I'm 4 weeks post surgery today and I have lost 16 lbs. But I have 100 lbs on you and at least twice as much fat to lose, so I would naturally lose faster. I think you are doing fine. I lost weight great the first 12 days but have stalled since then. We will each lose at our own pace when our bodies decide to let go. Just make sure you are getting the protein, fluids and vitamins and the rest will take care of itself. Glad you are feeling healthy that is the important part. You are doing fine.

Highest weight 440 lbs. lowest weight 9.5 lbs at birth
    Date of surgery weight 340
    12 week checkup 301 BMI <50 yeah!
Weight on birthday 3/24/48 Goal 285 would be nice.

Not sure about where you are located but if you can get some unflavored powder protein it's the best solution, you can mix it in cream soup, tea, etc. I like syntrax unflavored but many like unjury....

You are averaging 2.5 lbs per week. In my opinion, that's not bad at all. I weigh myself on Tuesdays, so I don't know my weight for this week yet but I started this journey @ *** (as of last week) I'm down to 171. I am wearing size 8 in bottoms & medium tops...not bad! Slow & steady wins the race!!! Good luck!!!
