    Default Nutritional Guidlines?

So when I go to the store I make sure and read the nutritional values of everything I am tempted to buy......here is what I base my values on....

    sugar: >10g
    sodium: >200mg
    calories:>400
    fat: >10

this is all per serving and I have noticed that I usually do not have a full serving anyhow so that takes some of the values down..........any tips or suggestions? I am open to any and all. Thank you.

I found I truly do best when I watch and count my carb intake. Following surgery, I used to keep my carb intake as low as I could... less than 20 if possible. I have slacked off on that and I find it MUCH harder to lose weight now and have even gained weight due to carbs and calories. I need to get back on task. Sugars are the other evil in my life, so I watch that, too. They easily sneak in with juices and fruits and other things that you would think are good for you.

Carbs are the key for me (and many people) and they are definitely a slippery slope... carbs crave carbs. Gotta kick the carb habit as best I can! Best of luck to you! Continued success.

    This is an excellent subject!
I have just started to kick off my weight loss, I was sleeved almost 2 years ago and although I am happy (when I look at old pictures) but would like to lose a bit more.
I have been trying several things, first I exorcize every 2 days, I run for 20 min, bike on level 14 for 10 min and the row on max pressure for 6 min, so it is a pretty good work out.
Now food, i have found by eating a good quality meal, this satisfy me longer, i.e. I am not looking for another "small" meal in 1 hours’ time.
The sleeve works fine in that I can only eat 300g meal (10.5oz).
With me I think it is the "in between" meals / snacks that is the issue.
I found that if I eat "low fat, low carb, low Cal, meals I am Hungary 1 - 2 hours.
I think I have the calorie spend down pat with the exercise, all I need to do now is find the correct combination of less in, once I have dropped a bit then I will need to find that balance of maintaining!
Let me know what works for you, I am really interested.:

I have never been told to check nutritional values. My gastric sleeve was about 7 months ago--I was told to aim for 60 grams of protein a day, take a multivitamin, calcium and iron. I, for myself, count calories. I am to aim for 1200--not there yet. I have lost 85 pounds so far. Common sense would be to make your food choices count--2/3 total protein, 1/3 total veg?

Yes Kathy, I think you are spot on there, I was told the same thing, it's really important to get that protein, I have a glass of Berocca and a multi vit with B12 every morning before work, I have bought somenever posted a picture before, hope it works!)

    Ill give these a try.
