I would say NO! on the pineapple juice - to much acid. You should check with your NUTritionist.

My wife is almost done her clear liquid diet but is having problems with adequate hydration. It seems like she isn't getting enough fluids and because of the recent holidays had some solid foods which she knows is a major no-no. I noticed you had protein shakes during your clear liquid diet would you suggest she do the same as she feels like she isn't getting adequate nutrients which I understand the diet does not do. Feel free to assist as I'm doing my best to understand what she is going through and one day I want to do the same and get a gastric sleeve done.
Thanks.
Has she already had her surgery?
You can get some clear liquid proteins - but they taste like cough syrup. You can mix them with water to thin them out and make them more drinkable. In addition, here's a clear fluids list I got from my doctor: Juices (apple, grape and cranberry with no added sugar); DECAF coffee (no added dairy); DECAF tea; broth (chicken, beef and/or vegetable); non-carbonated, calorie free drinks (sugar free kool aide, crystal light). Chewable clear liquids - sugar free gelatin and sugar free popsicles (take small bites and DO NOT take in rapid succession).
Once she goes to full liquids, basically anything you can sip, you can have. I used my Ninja processor quite a bit to puree stuff to drink - including cereal and milk.
Once off clear fluids, we started Premier Protein drinks from Costco. Occasionally you can find them on sale on Amazon.com. These can get quite expensive when you're drinking 2 or 3 a day, so for daily use I have BioTrust LowCarb Vanilla powder, to which I add my Athletic Greens vitamin/mineral powder. Both a little expensive, but my labs have been fantastic and my doctor is very happy, so it's worth it. Hubby uses Body Fortress Whey from Wal-Mart (which I do not like) and takes his vitamins and minerals twice a day in pill form (he had gastric bypass).
You can look up "Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve Diet" by Joseph E Chebli MD FACS on the internet (Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Venice | Bariatric Surgery Centre) and he has helpful guidelines.
With your help, you both can do this! Best of luck in the new year.

I'm a little confused If she needs fluids like water intake she can try Sobe 0Cal life water. they are pretty good and help me when plan water dosent cut it.
for protien I drink the Premier protien drinks (Costco) like others have said. or eat meat but I'm almost 5 months out
For vitamins and minerials she should be taking some chewable vitamins I get mine from celebrate bariatric supplements. I also take a B complex under the toung.
For even more nutrition I juice Kale, cucmbers, celery, green apples, lemon and a little ginger and drink that.
I don't know if she had the surgery yet or not but if she has just tell her to take it day by day and we all have felt like we where not eatting enough or that we where not getting in everything we needed the first couple of weeks. Just try to stay hydrated then when she feels up to it to slowly add different foods like cream of wheat, apple sause etc..
She had her surgery on December 10th so very recent.
She is considering doing one more week of fluids to help.
She does use the same protein from Costco so I will let her know your advice on that, as well as the article mentioned.
Thanks really appreciate the advice!
Robert
Just remember that she needs to sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. I had some trouble the first couple of weeks getting all my fluids in, but just sipped all the time. It adds up at the end of the day.
Happy New Year to you both!

No you find any protein drink that best fits you.I tried muscle milk but didn't like the after taste. I have never tried the Light premier protein powder so I can't say anything about that one.
The one I can keep drinking every day or every couple of days is the RTD (Ready to Drink) Premier Protien drink (chocolate) but thats just me. Other drinks may fit you better. don't be afraid to try and you can even call or email the companies to get samples so you don't spend alot of money on something you may not like.
Does anyone know if I can drink Amino Acids in place of the protein? I really enjoy the Amino Acid mixes especially the watermelon flavored mixes. I have used these previously with exercise in place of protein. Although I personally like the whey and don't mind drinking it at all.
Thats a good question. Some will say sure because they form thousands of different proteins but then some will say but that's not the natural way of getting your protiens in. I would say it wouldn't hurt to do both! but please ask your doctor.
What kind do you like? I have tried some and didn't like the flavor. could you please share the ones you say taste good?
Thanks
I don't know if this has been said, but MOST "MIO" flavors, or similar products are 0 cal 0 sugar.
Been sitting at my personal goal for a year now.

Looking for any type of broth that taste like it was soup, without the chucks in it. So far the broth I tried is horrible. The chicken broth was in a box you can reseal and put in fridge. The vegitable broth was low sodium, same type of container. No real flavor, leaves an after taste.
