I went yesterday to my local health food store and purchased, isupure protein liquid drinks, they are 4 bucks a piece but 40 gram s of protein. I did get an isupure vanilla powder too and think i will get some coconut milk to mix it in.
I can't drink water but I can get diet snapple down better. Someone also said that if I sqeeze some lemon into my water it might help it go down more easily? Can someone explain to me why water is so difficult to get down? When I tried a sip of water this morning, I vomitted.
Hello!
My surgery is in a little over a week and I'll be starting my pre-op diet officially in a couple days. I did a dry run the other day using Isometric protein shots and jello with protein powder mixed in...I had a pretty rough time. I can't really stand the taste of the protein shots (even mixed with juice), and the jello tastes grainy (though I saw someone else's recipe using Isopure that I will try). I want to try the Isopure drinks, do they have the same "taste" as other protein drinks? Also, any tips for beefing up broth?
Thanks!

I am 5 days post-op & having a hard time with clear liquids. Well, I should say clear liquids that contain protein. I tried Isopure. Drank half and now I call it Isopuke. So, have tried Unjury(supposedly unflavored) in jello. 2 bites. Well, in the garbage. I am settling for soup broth as that is the only thing that seems to not make me gag. My post op papers say that in the clear stage (10 days)you probably won't get in the protein, just try and stay hydrated. That hasn't been a problem. Any thoughts on this?
So I'm at the hotel the night before we fly to Mexico and I am so excited to have the Swanson Flavor Boost Packets with me. YUMMY! They're super convenient with the in room coffee maker to heat the water. A DEFINITE MUST HAVE for anyone traveling on the clear liquid diet. The vegetable is my FAVORITE. .
The best clear liuid protien I have found is the Unjury chicken soup flavor protien powder. It is ok mixed with water, but if you mix the powder with 8oz of 98% fat free chicken broth, it is WONDERFUL!!!! Plus it has 22 grams of protien mixed this way! I have had no issues getting in the required protein or fluids, thank goodness! You can't mix with boiling broth, only warm and should not be reheated, but I still drink it cool. I will be mixing this with my cream soup when I advance my diet.

My post op instructions say to get 60 to 80 oz of liquids per day. I don't think 20 0z more will hurt you. It would be pretty hard to stretch out your sleeve with just liquids. The surgeon told me that 5 year results show that noone's sleeves are stretching, and people are not re-gaining the weight due to stretching. I specifically asked this question. So, I would not push it past feeling full, but I would try to stick to 100 oz or less per day. You are well hydrated which is good and will help you stay well. The liquids are just emptying right down into your small intestine, and are not staying in the sleeve for long.
Hope this answer helps you feel better.
Good Luck
