[QUOTE=LIQUID OPTION: TACO SOUP - my new favorite!
I was so tired of having broth - my daughters were eating tacos - Mexican - love, love, love!!
Liquid Taco Soup 5 minutes on the stove
1 can broth
1 can tomato sauce
taco seasoning to taste[/QUOTE]
I tried this and it was delicious, but it made my sugar go sky high, so I can't eat it anymore...
I'm 10 days post op and i've been struggling to get all my protein (dr said between 60 and 80 grams / day) and my liquid/water intake as well, i just keep getting too full. I've been drinking the Isopure Zero Carb Protein drinks as they have 40 grams of protein and they also satisfy the water intake needed as well. (I'm sure the fluorescent colouring is not the healthiest but i'll worry about that another time!).
GNC stocks them and i'd suggest trying each one before buying too many as i bought the multipack case and really only like 2 of the flavours.
tomorrow I am going shopping I need some great ideas for somethng new , i was on a liquid pre op diet for 2 weeks, now I just got sleeved last thursday i really want something else , I drank some chicken soup straining out everything and it was super yummy. would you htink it be ok if I make my own soup, like roasted apsaragus as long as I blend the asparagus up ? or do a roasted red pepper soup with the same idea?
Been using this instead of buying the cans. My mom made me a years supply and herself a years supply for around $30! AMAZING ! And you can make anything you want! Tonight im going to try to make cream of zucchini! YUM!!! After im finished I just puree in the food processor and strain!
Ingredients
2 Cups powdered milk
¾ cup cornstarch
¼ cup instant chicken bouillon
2 Tbsp dried onion flakes
1 tsp basil leaves
1tsp tyme leaves
Pepper
Salt
Instructions
Combine ingredients, stirring till evenly distributed.
To substitute for 1 can of condensed cream of whatever soup, combine 1/3 cup of dry mix with 1 ¼ cups of cold water. Stir constantly over medium heat. (This is when to add the “flavor” for whichever soup you need). Heat and stir until it thickens. Use as you would the canned product.
Flavor list These amounts are per “can”
Mushroom: add ½ cup finely chopped mushrooms.
Celery: add ½ cup minced sautéed celery.
Potato: add 1 cup cooked diced potatoes.
Chicken: add ½ cup cooked chicken.
Vegetable: add ¾ cup cooked vegetables
Broccoli: add 1 cup cooked chopped broccoli.
I'll have to try that!
GNC also carries a flavorless whey protein called Isopure. Once scoop has 26g of protein and it can be added to anything. If you add it to your soup I find it works better if you use a shaker cup and mix the protein with the milk first then add them both to your cream soup and cook it on the stove. When you do it in the microwave it gets chunky...
