Unjury unflavored protein is perfect to mix in with all my fluids.... you have to play around to get the right amount. "If you can taste it, you've used too much" is what my nutritionist said to use as a guideline. It doesn't add a ton of protein, but about 10 grams protein per 32 ounces of water! I also LOVE Puritan's Pride chocolate whey for her - the more you buy, the cheaper it is. And it's a light chocolate flavor, mixed with milk, 31 grams protein. So much better than the ready-made stuff!
Question, i tried putting protien in my soup but usually i can only get a few bites in! so im really not getting the protein at all!!! what do you advise? I am totally NOT getting the right amount of protien and i am worried im hurting my body. What do you guys think
I was told to try to do 2 protein shakes a day, and work my way toward getting the protein through food. 2 shakes will get you almost the 60 grams you need. I'm drinking one a day, but should probably do 2, since my new stomach is small, and it's hard to eat enough protein! Good luck!
Unjury also has unflavored protein powder. I just bought 2 containers and I'm hoping to go in with other patients to get free shipping next time. I bought the starter pack and it has a thermometer in the package, as I think I can't drink over 140 degrees with the powder. Is this what others are finding?
musicmom - I've learned that if you mix it thoroughly, then heat it, you can actually heat it pretty hot! Just don't stir again after heating. Example, my coffee (click decaf) says mix for about 30 seconds, put in micro-safe cup, heat one minute. Stir, then heat another 30-60 seconds. This actually makes it nice and hot. Just don't stir after! Doing it like this hasn't resulted in clumps. I'm going to try it with the chicken broth, since that's always clumpy when I make it!
My nutritionist said if you didn't have a problem with salt before, it's okay to use after. Your taste buds may change, though, some things taste different after. I only had to do clear liquids (including broth) for 2 days, then all liquids for a week. So I didn't stock up too much on that stuff. Well, honestly, yes I did, but I always go overboard!
I use many different flavors of extracts. My favorite is maple extract in a vanilla protein shake with a little dash of cinnamon. I also found cherry extract to add to my vanilla protein shake and it is good too.
