I'm curious on amounts everyone is eating. Today is the most I was able to eat that isn't a protein shake and it was a creamy soup. I managed about 4 tbsp before I started feeling like it was slowly sliding down lol I'm only 2 weeks out so perhaps this is normal? When your all making these recipes I'm just curious how much your eating and how often. Thanks!

4 TBSP sounds actually like quite a lot at 2 weeks... It takes a while to build up. Your tummy is probably still swollen from the surgery so be gentle and give it time. I think I was still eating about 3-5X a day - 4 oz of a protein shake and soup were my mainstays since I was on liquids for 3 weeks. Be sure to take vitamins and stay hydrated.

p.s. It would take me a LONG time to even sip the 4 oz of protein shake down.

I am only a month out and try eating about six small meals a day. Different things allow for more than others, but generally can't take more than a quarter cup of solid food, sometimes less, sometimes more. Expect to either waste a lot or plan to have a lot of leftovers, unless you have someone to share with. My eyes are still bigger than my stomach and I have to really be concious of how much I'm eating, because I did throw up once and almost a couple other times. The most important thing I have learned is I must make sure I get my water in. Hope that helps.

Yes it does thank you both. I realized too I truly need to slow down when attempting to eat as well. These old habits really are hard to break but the chest pain reminds me lol I make dinner for my family every night so this is an interesting concept of not tasting what your cooking. Soon enough, for now a few tbsp here and there throughout the day sounds like the plan. I'm anxious and yet nervous about trying actual food in a couple weeks too.

Pureed chili sounds yummy but I was told by my surgeon I couldn't have beef or pork for at least 4 weeks out due to have hard it is for my stomach to process those meats. Sounds good though.

My nutritionist provided us with a "bible." Each week of eating after surgery was broken down by weeks of what we could eat, and what we should avoid. I believe by week 5 we were allowed to start slowly incorporating more solid foods. First month out you're just having protein shakes, broth, creamy soups, maybe a very soft scrambled egg. Puree the heck out of stuff! Remember to stay hydrated!
