Thank you Laperkins That does help. I probably will have questions since it's so overwhelming, but I am so excited too!
I came up with a combination today to beat the "protein shake blahhhs". Mix about cubes ice, 1/2 c mixed berry juice like ocean spray, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, and 1/4 to 1/2 c fruit flavored greek yogurt. place in blender or magic bullet and let her fly. You will not be disappointed!
I called around to a few companies that have protein powder and told them how I'd heard about them on the support groups and facebook and would really like a free sample of their product. Chike agreed to send me a sample pack and not charge me for the shipping, and the lady was really really nice. she asked me how far out I was from surgery, how it went, how I was feeling, was very supportive and informative.
Yesterday I mixed a vanilla protein shake with a carton of Dannon Light & Fit toasted coconut vanilla yogurt. OMG......tasted like a pina colada!!! Very good!

My wife is actually about to do the Gastric Bypass procedure. We both have been taking some very good protein meal replacement shakes that are delicious, but most of all they are low in calorie and sugar, which will help keep the insulin levels low. We cleared it with the DOC and he even told us that these are the best shakes that a person can consume after any type of Gastric Surgery. I would love to share with you all what it is and how it can benefit you all. My wife is loving these.. Message me for more details. I don't want to drop any links here in the forum. Didn't know if it was okay or not.. Thanks in advance,

I am not a fan of Muscle mIlk. It has too much of a medicine taste for me. I use Premier Nutrition Protein shakes from Costco. 11 oz, 160 cal, 30gm of protein. They come in chocolate & vanilla. Low sugar and low fat. I am going to start experimenting with powder though, because I need s change. some really good ideas her! Thanks everyone!
Everyone's taste is SOOOO different, LOL. That's what makes the world go round, eh? I really like the Nectar line of products, especially Caribbean Cooler, Fuzzy Navel, and Twisted Cherry. I also like Gold Standard chocolate. I haven't tried Muscle Milk powders, but I can't stand their ready-made products. Blech!!
Any Naked Juice product frozen and mixed with any high protein/low carb vanilla or chocolate drink is really good. Mango madness and vanilla is like a creamsicle and chocolate and berry blast is like a chocolate cherry ice cream shake. It's a nice mix and a good way to have it slowly since it's frozen.
I am still not eating even close to solids after 8 weeks but this mixture I can keep down. I am in India so I don't have much choice in what I can buy. I find this mixture hides the taste of protein powders, the smell of which makes me nauseous.
plain acidophilus yogurt 3 tablespoons
1 banana
scoop of vanilla protein powder(Slimfast)
dash of vanilla essence
3 ice cubes
Makes about 8 oz. .Blend
You can drink some and keep for later
I've been enjoying smoothies since Stage 2-full liquids. Still do. My wonderful hubby bought me an ice cream maker. Now, I make my smoothie and refrigerate it for an hour. 20 minutes after I take it out, I have a low carb, fat free ice cream that tastes like a premium ice cream. How cool is that?
I don't even have a surgery date yet (hoping for 3rd week in July) but I've gotten four cases of the Premier Nutrition protein shakes from costco. Nothing else comes close to the amount of protien per serving.
