that sounds like a very good drink indeed, although i can imagine how many ounces it makes...surgery pending and I keep reading its a struggle to put down 2-4 oz
I got a sample of chocolate amp from gnc today. Do you use the 3 scoops and how much milk? The guy at gnc said I could do one scoop and 8 oz milk. Then I have lower calories, carbs and 28g protein.
OK, Just cooked up some lean ground beef in beef broth yesterday and added about 1/4 cup of powdered skim milk, garlic and onion powder, salt n pepper and proceeded to blend the crap out of it If you use your imagination, it tastes a little like beef stroganoff but lots of good ol' protien!
I'm doing pretty good. Only a week out. After surgery you cannot eat sold foods for awhile. I started and still on protein shakes, yogurt, cream soups etc. The protein shakes are for protein. You can only eat 3 oz. at a time and you need your protein. Do you have a dietitian to work with you? Your only 2 weeks away.
Does anyone know if its ok to add in frozen strawberries during the liquid diet want to add them to my shakes for the taste but not sure abt the seeds so soon after op anyone else using them
My fail safe was the 17.00 whey protein from Walmart with 1 cup strawberries-55 cal, 1/2 cup sf apple juice-50 cal, 1 scoop protein-110 cal, and occasionally a 50 cal yogurt. 265 calories, blend with ice and freeze the other half. spaced then 2 hours apart and was very full for 4-5 hours and got over 1/3 of my daily protein, 26 g in whey and 8 g in yogurt.
Marci-I added strawberries, blueberries, balckberries and raspberries to my shakes in the first week...of course, I have a VitaMix and it totally liquifes all ingredients if I want it to and you DO ant it to at this point. It was Y U M M Y !!!!!!! Oh-I just noiced that was an old post....well....anway...I still do it!
I read so many good things about the Nectar Cappuccino. I made it this morning with hot coffee in my wisk-ball mixer at work. It was disgusting. Chunks of weird plasticy stuff. Just awful. Did I do something wrong? I really wanted to like this.

"There will be little rubs and disappointments everywhere, and we are all apt to expect too much; but then, if one scheme of happiness fails, human nature turns to another; if the first calculation is wrong, we make a second better: we find comfort somewhere."

So this is a silly question, but here goes-Are these protein smoothies for after the 6 weeks of healing time or are they for during the "full liquid" stage. I am a little confused on what "full liquid" means in my booklet that was sent home with me.
Tabby, I had surgery with Dr. Kim. The protein smoothies are for before and during your full liquid, pureed and anytime you need to get the protein you need. Tomorrow I will be a month post-op and I am on pureed. I am still doing the protein smoothies. They help you get in the amount of protein needed. If you have further questions about the booklet he gave you or just have any question. You can always PM me. I am wishing you the best of luck.
