Or has anybody been revised from a sleeve to another type of surgery? What was your ex0perience , weight loss the second time etc... I will be getting resleeved on Monday .
I know there are people who have went from sleeve to duodenal switch, but this is the first i have read of getting re-sleeved
Pounds LOST since surgery 111

BMI current 26.0 OVERWEIGHT
my first goal is to get to 141pounds, that will put me in the NORMAL range bmi. My second goal is 120, which is thin and healthy.
I don't know how that is possible! They all use a bougie to measure and guide them as they take away most of your stomach. While there are different sized bougies, they are very similar in diameter. As an RN, I have never heard of being resleeved. just sayin.. I wonder how they are going to even do this. It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Of course, I am not saying that it is impossible, but it doesn't seem probable. I hope you get a 2nd opinion from another MD about this. Whatever you do.. I wish you the best.
It is possible if the sleeve has enlarged or it wasn't done right from the beginning . Its not common . If you read about revision for sleeve it can be done . It can also be converted tothe DS or a bypass I've heard of other people that had it done in other forums . The problem is that they are not active on the forums . My doctor did say if for any reasons he can't fix the sleeve then he's going to do the bypass and I'm ok with it. He's not planning on the bypa. ss
yeah i read a few posts i think on verticalsleevetalk.. where some people had stretched their sleeve and wanted it smaller again so they were getting re sleeved. now i wonder how stretched it was? also i remember it saying the risk of a leak is much greater but not to worry you.. could you provide a little info please !! when was the original surgery? did u reach goal and gain back? did u not lose enough? details please??
Hi gemini eyes , I had my first surgery March of 2010 in Tijuana , Mexico . I did not lose enough . Started gaining weight (almost 30lbs) after a year of having surgery . I was always able to eat more than people I had read about . Had test done and it should the top and bottom (funds)of my stomach was large . I had revision on 12/3/12. Everything has been good . Still a little sore .
Wow, this so interesting mrios. I am 10 months out and worry ALL the time that I'm stretching my stomach out too much because it seems I can eat more than what I'm supposed to (which I don't really know what amount I should be able to eat at 10 months out). I'm sorry you had to be re-sleeved so soon but thank you for this post making us aware that you can be re-sleeved. I didn't know. I wasn't sure how to even find out if my stomach is too stretched or not. Ugh, I'm sure we all worry about this kind of stuff. I hope this time works out better for you. Now I'm worried more. LOL No, but I'm so glad you posted and asked.
I had never heard of being re sleeved. Not sure my insurance would pay to have it done again. I do worry that I will stretch it out again. I do know that I eat more now than I used to. I don't get sick anymore when I get full. Kind of wish that would have stayed around. I never had control and I'm scared I will lose what control I do have with the smaller stomach. My sister in law had the by pass, she hit goal and then some. Passed me right up big time! My mother in law never passes up a chance to tell me how great my sister in law looks :-/
